G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

Meanwhile, this fucker was in the garden, huh?

This is funny in the moment, but I'm afraid in a couple years everyone will have forgotten this week's nonsensical Trump post and it'll just look like cringe Jesus-and-the-troops material
It was both hilarious and deeply disturbing to watch social media posts about the photo Trump posted. So many of his supporters twisting themselves into knots trying to act like what he did was bad while keeping their faith (both religious and in Trump). It just shows that there is really no depth Trump can sink to that will cause them to stop supporting him.

Decided to start upgrading my figures after a successful Cyborg Superman mod last year. Which was only like the 3rd mod I've ever done, but it came out so well that I was like, I've got all this silver paint leftover, I should spruce up some figures. Decided to start with Crazylegs because 1. I'm not a huge fan of the character so if I mess up no biggie deal, and 2. That all-tan harness looks boring and does not match the card art. Spent about 15-20 minutes with a tiny brush and a toothpick hitting all of the buckles and rings and rivets I could find, and I gotta say, I'm damn happy with the result!

My brother said the modifications really bring the figure to life and I gotta agree. Gonna definitely make this a regular thing.

That looks fantastic. Man, I've got all the stuff from miniatures painting to do that - might steal your idea. I kinda overlooked the all beige harness but seeing it with silver buckles really upgrades him.

Thanks! Yeah I'm very likely to go through my whole Classified collection and start doing this to everyone. Might take a while but it was fun and kind of relaxing in the same way building Gundam models is relaxing.

You had me up to this.

I agree about painting, though. When I was doing a lot of HACKS customizing, just sitting down and dabbing some paint on sword handles and buckles and little bits like that was super relaxing. And makes stuff look way better most of the time as well (to be fair, HACKS were already way better painted than any Classified figure, so this was mostly unpainted 'customizer pack' stuff I was painting).

I will agree that model kits are the opposite of relaxing for me. I think it's the organizing and searching of all the parts, but I like LEGO.

In extremely stressful times, I build Gundams to unwind. I've had like 4 or 5 years of no model building because things have been very peaceful for me personally for a while. I've gotten pretty good at letting my defense mechanisms gather dust lately, usually I just handle negative emotion and reactions directly in the moment and don't let 'em fester anymore, but the shittiness of the world has been piling up outside my mental door to the point that I've been side-eyeing the kits at Gamestop and Ross again.

Little parts mix-n-match created a new character for me. I was originally going to use the regular camo Special Forces head, but the browns didn’t look right with the sharp greens and blacks of the Retro Stalker body, so I swapped on the creepy face paint head with spare NF Falcon gear, and he looks less “scary American” (to me, at least), and more like an international mercenary. So, making the war paint meaningful instead of just intimidating, here we have Haitian-born mercenary, code name: Bokor.
