G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

Lara is still owned by Embracer (middle finger), but Crystal Dynamics (under Embracer) and Amazon Games are doing the remake and new one.

I can see them working some sort of marketing. She's a very GI Joe type character.

Joe also tied in with SF2 and MK, so while I'm sure someone's going to cry that it's a waste of a slot and that nobody was asking for this, it's very in line with the brand. And toys in general. And capitalism.

You know what, I asked for this. I will be Lara Jesus.

I feel like visiting Energon is inevitable. Classified alone owes it's start to that video game nobody talks about, we get throwbacks and retros, I want the modern stuff.

And when I look at some of the Energon designs, it seems like Classified has already leaned in that direction with some of the figures.

Thank you for taking one for Lara. And now I see I spelled her name wrong originally, heh.

I've never played any Tomb Raider games, and have no investment in the character, but is it actually pronounced like Laura? Because I pronounce Lara like Sara.

I don't even know. The guys on the video were saying it like "Laura", but I've never played a Tomb Raider game or seen a Tomb Raider movie either...

Its pronounced Lawra. Not like Sara. And that's awesome, but annoying. I start buying pieces to start making my own Lara Croft figure and Hasbro is just gonna do a GI Joe one. I've invested quite a bit so far, but I only have half of it and can't find the right arms. So I dunno if I should continue to make her or just wait now... bah, bah I say. Now I'm annoyed.

I have been playing the old Tomb Raider games though, I bought all the remasters. I'm on TR3 right now. I've always been a big TR fan. It was one of those games me and my friend Jordan played together, trying to figure out all the secrets and puzzles. Takes me back to staying at his house and playing till 6 am and then passing out for like 12 hours lol. Such simpler times. It got me in the mood to make a figure and buy the comics. But the Top Cow comics are expensive. And the Omnibus are like $100 each, so I'm gonna have to wait on that.

Has that been verified? I know it is often repeated, but I have a hard time thinking that that is in the right order. I am by no means an expert in either industry, but I find it hard to think Hasbro would do a massive re-launch of one of their biggest IP's based off of designs from a small game studio releasing a budget game. If I was to use my noodle, Classified was probably in development for 2+ years(?), and a multi media launch was planned. Toss some developers all of your early designs and say "Here you go, we launch in a year, 2020, a year that should be clear of any issues, have a game ready". I remember seeing quite a bit of early promo images popping up here and there in the new (now old) style for Classified, including the much wanted tattooed Storm Shadow. So when people keep mentioning the game being the springboard for what we have seems a bit off the mark.

Thanks for coming to my unauthorized TED talk, try the buffet, tip your waiter.

EDIT: @Alt, I hope that didn't come off as me being snooty or throwing any kind of negative shade your way, not intended.

The only verification I can offer is matching the video game outfits to the original Classified waves and packaging art.

Those designs are so video game studio it makes sense it was part of the platform to me.

I don't recall it being a massive relaunch. More like a slow build. Honestly it just reads like we're on the same page and you took what I said quite literal. Probably on my phrasing

Not sure how many of you read the comics, but they did a series of Silent Missions one-shots in the Hama continuity awhile back. Now they're doing 5 SSSilent Missions for different Cobra members.

I would happily take some of those leaked figures. But also I'm at the point where I just ignore leaks because I can barely muster up the ability to care about actually announced figures that are a year or more away, let alone figures that MIGHT happen but aren't even confirmed. I'll wait for pretty promo pics.

Ignoring leaks seems healthy. Especially since Classified is the one line i enjoy more of the "oh, look what they're coming out with next" approach than other lines where i have "must have" lists.

I miss the days of finding out about a new figure from the Sears Christmas catalogue.
I don't know if I ever found about new figures that way. New LINES -maybe-. But mostly I think I found out about new figures from cross-sells on the back of the card.
