G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Poll - #47 - Roadblock (Retaliation)

I would pick up a Rock Roadblock. Movie figures are not a big want for me as I already went through that with the original releases. However in 6" Classified scale I could be tempted to pick up more than just Rockblock.

I think his costume is a bit boring and generic military guy, and not something I really want in my collection.

But if he were, i'd also want the head to be made to look like some other dude, I don't mind the 'celebrity' Joes, like The Fridge and Sarge, I just don't like when toys try to look like real people. It's why i dont collect mcu figures

(fridge and Sarge got a cartoonized version so they work)

Oh yes I would. I love that armor design, and the general look of everything in that movie...just not the movie in it's entirety.

I do pick up MCU and Star Wars figures but honestly, the better the face tech gets the more accurate they look, the weirder I feel holding a near perfect representation of, say, Pedro Pascal. I feel like they're judging me. Actually the one that gets me is Han Solo cos you know Harrison is like "I hate that grown men by tiny versions of me."

Does Adrianne Palicki count as a celebrity? Her Lady Jaye is really different from the traditional version so I could shelf canon her as someone else.
Y'know, I wonder if they'd get the likeness good enough to bother me. Like I have the Snake Eyes movie Scarlett but she looks sufficiently NOT like Samara Weaving that I kinda like the figure? Especially because it was a cleaner design than the Classified first-draft Scarlett. (Same with Baroness, she plays like Baroness's angrier angstier younger sister instead of as a movie version). Rock would look like the Rock though and meh to that. (They'd probably nail the likeness, too - Sarge's face is crazy accurate.)

Just not a movie collector guy. This would make for an alright “generic soldier”, but it’s nothing I’m clamoring for.

you know whats funny for me.

I own the What If...? Captain Carter figure, because it's based off an animated interpretation of hayley atwell, and therefor looks like it's own thing and not like an actual person.

That is funny... and I kinda envy having that mindset. I collect ONLY movie people, except for Classified, but I appreciate that a lot of the Classified heads look like a real person, even if not someone I recognize.

on this I gotta disagree. As a wrestling fan at least, Sarge from GI Joe and Classified looks nothing to me like the actual wrestler.

for one, GI Joe Sarge is super ripped, and chiseled and has a chin that can cut glass

the dream joke fig for me would be a Sgt. Slaughter that joined Cobra making an allusion to his time as an Iraqi Sympathizer that lasted much longer than the Gulf War

I prefer the Captain Carter figure to the other Hayleys because she's her own thing. Really it's what I love about the What If figures in general - inspired by but unique.

I do love that all the Joes look like real people, but not like A PERSON. It's less the realism and more the cognitive dissonance of posing something that looks so much like ScarJo. And I do like the movie figures a lot, but if like my house were burning down and I had to grab one of each figure I'm grabbing the three-pack Daredevil over the Charlie Cox version, etc.

He wouldn't be "Roadblock." I already have the Amazon one with the left arm from the first release for the tattoo, which suits me just fine.

But you bet your ass, I want that on my shelf as "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson, lol...

yeah, he's like, a caricature of a real dude

and sure most wrestlers are characters, but like. They went further and made him way less realistic

really i wish they would do that with more wrestling figures.
