Day 11 - Spirit (Pursuit of Cobra)

One of my most wanted figures, I'd say just go off that original art! Hasbro did three versions kinda off this concept though:

I'm not as gung-ho on the Predator homage figures as some, but Spirit is a top five favorite Joe for me so any variation of him I'm up for.
 
I mean... who wouldn't want a figure of Billy from Predator (or Billy Bear from 48 Hours)?

Spirit is one of my Joe favorites. I would take him in Tiger Force, Night Force and any other sub-line or alternate look. So this Pursuit of Cobra version in green fatigues would be an instant purchase
 
This is one of those figures that I would pick up, but not sure I would pay full price. I like the homage but Billy is not my favourite character from Predator. It is great though that he has a unique look that is pretty much instantly recognizable.
 
I appreciate that not everyone is into Predator homages, or want specifically a figure resembling Billy from that, but so far this seems like a figure that does appeal to people for various reasons.

I would also take Spirit in various Forces, especially if they do something to make him a little more distinct beyond clothing because I'd like to have it be a new character.

Some of the IDW figures, like Chameleon 2 or the soon to be posted in this thread Mad Monk, I look at them and think they're pretty cool but I'm almost positive Classified would make them way cooler with some kinda neat additional masked head or a cool weapon/accessory I've gotta have someone on the shelf wielding etc.

I've gotta ask which one is your favorite. Mine is the title character of course.
 
Poncho was my favorite.

Yeah, I'd buy Tiger Force and Night Force Spirit. I think the reason the Billy homage doesn't sell me is Sonny was so legendarily volatile and Spirit is so legendarily calm I can't square the circle. Sort of like how they did a Recondo figure for Blain when their only similarity is the superficial mustache and there's several other Joes who are more Blain-esque. But Recondo's a top ten character for me so I'd get him too.

I agree about the Recondo thing, definitely. They made a very not-Recondo looking Recondo. but yeah I'd get him too. And the others, but Poncho is a great choice.

Recondo to me is low-key. He's like a combination of Robert Muldoon in Jurassic Park (the book, the competent one) and Quincey Morris. Blain's awesome but he's got Big Gung-Ho energy. Or honestly, he's got some Roadblock energy too.

Poncho's the one guy I cannot figure out a good Joe analogue to. Dutch is Duke on steroids, Dillon is Chuckles, Hawkins is Breaker, Mac is probably Stalker. Poncho's too close to being a second in command to be Grunt but too Everyman to be any of the weirdo Joe specialists.
 
Seems like an easy enough version to do with a lot of reuse. I could see it being done. Not a priority for me, as I don’t plan on a lot of duplication of characters, for other looks. I might be tempted down the road if that look went on sale somewhere, but right now, I’m more focused on new characters and filling in my missing characters.
