G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Figure Poll - #73 - Dela Eden (Devil's Due)

Zero joking:
Hasbro should definitely ask us.
Dick jokes and loquacious horseplay aside, this group has some damn fine insights on Classified.

Day 73 - Dela Eden - (Devil's Due) (11/24/25)

Our first Red Shadows member isn't from the original Action Force line but the later Devil's Due comic run. A covert agent for Red Shadows, the organization that hates both GI Joe AND Cobra, Dela Eden was responsible for killing Lady Jaye and tasked with hunting down Destro and Baroness. AND, yet another possibility for that female CG body.

More femme characters and more options for that CG buck are always good. Though every time I see a summary from the Devil's Due run I realize I really am probably better off skipping the whole run. I've never seen a story arc mentioned from that run that appeals to me even a little bit. It feels like badly edgy fan fic.

(EDIT: I probably sound either snobby or belligerent and don't mean to, but man, their OC killed Lady Jaye, they killed off Timber, they killed off Junkyard and just replaced him with Junkyard II like the cat from the Simpsons, they killed off Chuckles but left it hanging, they killed off Flash and Mainframe... it just sounds like a joyless slog of a read to me.)

Nah, they had some cool ideas and character concepts but that's all that appeals to me from what I've read.

Yeah, I see some fun character concepts from them but honestly, I feel like I disagree with every single creative choice they made. Taking away the catharsis of Snake Eyes avenging the Deaths in the Desert just so you can re-use a two-dimensional throwaway character in your own continuity? That's just shitting on what came before. Killing off one of the three-ish main female characters in a sausagefest of an IP to give another character a John Wick motivation? Wasteful. Creating legacy characters just to repeat their deaths in the first few issues? Why bother?

Sorry, I'm on a rant but I just read through the full summary of the Devil's Due arc and if they didn't have the Joe IP to play with it'd be a forgotten indie. It all just enrages me from a craft perspective. It feels like they failed to find what was interesting or beloved about any of the characters.

That being said, female baddie who might also work on a CG body for Dela? Hell yeah, I'll just create my own head canon for her.

No I definitely agree. I was never too enthralled with what I've read from them. IDW took the concepts in very different, and usually dark from what I've read, directions but still doesn't come close to the original Marvel run for me. But again, I appreciate new characters and always get excited to work them into my own shelf canon.

A TON of the characters in this thread I don't know if I'd love their story arcs in the comics but the designs, esp. what Classified would do with them, totally sold. Especially if they break up the boys' club a bit. There's a bunch of characters who got screen time in Devil's Due I'd still be sold on figures for even if the comic makes me pissy.

And part of me thinks maybe it would have been better if I didn't know about those stories, if Hasbro were to do figures of them. Dela Eden or someone like Mad Monk could have been the next Wolf Spider or Shadow Tracker. Just a cool, neat, new figure for me to fill in the blanks myself.

Edit: I guess Kamakura would have been a better comparison, heh.

Another faction, independent of the Joes, Cobra, or even October Guard.. count me interested. I don’t know much about this faction, but it potentially makes for more intricate storytelling, in shelf cannon if not in comic cannon.
