G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Figure Poll - #299 - Sgt. Slaughter (Retro)

While I like the design, I’m not a fan of the concept behind a “Sludge Viper”. While there’s people that don’t prioritize the welfare of the planet, there’s very few that actively want to damage it. Even Cobra would have to realize that ruling a despoiled planet would be ultimately pointless.
I’d get this fellow, but my head cannon would alter his specialization.
 
I grew up exactly during the Eco Warriors era where most villains across every property were blindingly colorful polluters. Love this guy.

I also love how much R&D Cobra seemingly put into a gun that shoots sludge. It has a "sludge guidance system"! My friends, that is a hose. A gun that shoots sludge is just a hose.
 
I don't have strong memories of Sludge Viper. Definitely one I'd need to see in Classified before deciding.

Yes to Robo-Joe and all of Star Brigade! The BAAT is my top-want!

And definitely yes to Sludge Viper! He has such striking armor. Love the colors as well. Intentional pollution was a way of life for corporate America from the 1940s to at least until the 1960s.

To be fair:
Sludge-Vipers work for Cesspool, who was already an enthusiastic polluter-for-profit before his Joker vat-of-chemicals “origin”, and is now completely insane and literally wants to burn and melt the planet to remake it in his own ghastly visage.

So, like: this isn’t a Cobra plan so much as the delusional crusade of a madman.

And unfortunately: that’s *totally* realistic in the current environment.
 
I dunno about the Vipers, but Id get Cesspool and the new EW characters for the Joes. The ones that were just put in there after the fact probably not, but I remember quite liking Clean Sweep. He can hang out with Airtight.
 
The Sludge Viper look like if, in universe, the governments of the world wanted anti-Cobra propaganda, so they came up with a whole line of eco crimes they where supposedly guilty of.

Loved Recoil as a kid, although his weird hat makes no sense to me.

Would be cool if Classified played up his bodybuilder angle in the sculpt.

Honestly, the version I want is from the 2000s but I wanted to do this version first. In a couple months I'll come back to it, but the 2018 version has more of a Delta Force kinda helmet. His camo is also really unique and striking.
 
Yeah I liked Recoil a lot as a kid. I forgot he was a body builder. That’s fun. Agree with Ace that it would be very cool if the Classified figure played up the body builder physique.

Nah. I don't need Recoil. He's another one of those 'generic military guys' that I never got into as a kid, ended up wanting more as a late teens/early 20s collector, and still never owned. So he doesn't hit that nostalgia or that 'super awesome' button.
 
Yes for the funky camo, hat, lime green shades and upside bayonet. No to that weird origami pistol he's got. Make him a Gym Bro and give him a 10 gal jug of pre-workout.
