G.I. Joe Classified One-A-Day Beamish-Style Figure Poll - 2025

Yes to Scarface. The figure. The movie's allure elludes me.
Same

Ten-four to that.
I love De Palma, but that film would definitely not make my top favorite BDP films at all. Also the “hype” around it, socioculturally speaking, creeps me out. The worst dudes I ever knew had Tony Montana posters on their walls.
Heh, true. I always say I prefer Carlito's Way. Same director and actor, better music, and I just like the story way more, but probably similar point but maybe a little more clear? I say Carlito's Way partly to be contrary, partly to see Scarface fan jaw drops, but I genuine don't like Scarface and have watched Carlito's Way many times.

I definitely prefer Carlito’s Way.

And BDP *did* make my favorite gangster picture of all time: THE UNTOUCHABLES.

But everyone knows his best is Phantom of the Paradise.
😁

I like Wiseguys....

No, really!

Definite YES to Scar-face. One of my top ten Cobra wants. I do agree that the character should be made to stand apart from the rank and file officers, yet still represent the original character. Include both masked and unmasked heads.

Yes to Scarface, and agree that he needs a little sumfin sumfin to make him not look like a regular trooper.

It's a comedy, which maybe you can tell from the cast. But pretty different from a lot of stuff I think of when I think of DePalma
I’m always up for a DePalma regardless of genre because hit or miss, the guy goes all-in for style. I gravitate to those bold stylists

I wonder how it holds up now.
I’m almost afraid to find out . . . it was a “safe” movie back in the day. Today? Who knows? Every time I rewatch The Monster Squad I squee with glee but also cringe cringe CRINGE.

Right? I imagine a lot of 80s movies I still love are partly because I never stopped watching them.

Whenever I think of Joe Piscapo I think of this, which admittedly hits differently now.

One of the funniest things I'd ever heard was a friend saying that the stuffed panda in a video game could "chew through a school" and at the time I could not stop gigging at it, but in the 20 years since that line was uttered... it's not funny anymore. But at the time, the idea of a stuffed panda gnawing on a brick facade KILLED me.
