The Irishman
I'm not super optimistic, but... maybe it'll be fun.
Speaking of blind, my eyes are fucked up enough I didn't notice this and was blissfully unaware the paint / stamp wasn't aligned well but now I know mine also looks like that. The lower blue is printed waaaayyy too low. Did I just get unlucky?
Found a buyer? Excellent. Mind arrived today and is sitting in my office TAUNTING ME.Now I'm the excited owner of Destro who is prepping the Despoiler to ship to a buyer. Yay!
... yeah he does. Dammit. He really does. Double barrel.Needs a shotgun.
As long as they don't lean into slapdick humor I don't need something that is Hama-purist. Just treat the old girl with dignity is all I ask.Danny McBride's Halloween wasn't bad, but I only saw the first one. I have way more confidence in him respecting what came before than in Max Landis, but I would also like to know if McBride is more into Sunbow or Hama. The Springfield thing is a good start though.
I don't remember him having even a cameo in Halloween....Grounded action film — Not a comedy
Okay. I'm no longer grumping. As long as he doesn't cast himself as Shipwreck.
After the magnificence that was the He-Man movie, you CANNOT convince me that a live action Joe movie based closer to the cheesy action of the cartoon wouldn't be awesome if done correctly.Well that is good news (rumour).
Let's hope he understands the assignment and whatever crew (director, producer, etc) don't butcher it after the fact.
Edit:
Also I wonder how gun shy Hasbro will be with any possible toys for this movie after the disaster of Snake Eyes.
Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, McBride talked about how the whole thing came to be. “G.I. Joe was my thing when I was a kid,” McBride said. “I liked that more than Star Wars, more than anything. Like I loved G.I. Joe. And I still have all the [toys].” Apparently, from that, McBride had the idea to do a spinoff based on an evil mercenary group from the Joe universe and actually pitched it to Paramount.
“I’ve always loved [G.I. Joe, and so I had an idea for a Dreadnoks movie,” McBride said. “And I just wanted to do a Dreadnoks movie, and I went to Paramount and pitched it, and they were like, ‘Well, the franchise kind of needs to be launched, so we can’t come out with a Dreadnoks movie. Would you have an angle for G.I. Joe proper?’ And I was like, ‘Hell yeah, I’ll have an angle for that.”
“We sat down, and we cracked something that we really love a lot,” he said. “Weirdly, it grounds G.I. Joe. It’s not a comedy. It’s kind of suspense and action, and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
In terms of specifics, McBride only said that it was an ensemble movie that follows Duke and a group of Joes and is set in Springfield, a fictional town from the comics that is secretly all Cobra, the mortal enemies of G.I. Joe. “And we havesome pretty interesting people lining up to be in it, too,” McBride said, “I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but it looks to be like it’s going to be pretty fun.”
I liked those Halloween movies (yes, all three), so me too.I have faith in Danny.
