Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

Those are two deluxe figures which can be outfitted as two other characters. Or more, since the LegionsCon versions come with some extra heads. I think the male figure could be used as a good troop builder. I'll likely only get one female. The 4H love their pale women, but at least she's not blue. I can't see myself wanting more than one pale lady figure.

I'm always a little bummed out by how much I waste from their deluxe figures. I really like these two and I'd be happy to pick up one of the male figure and at least one of the female figure (I feel like there just aren't enough unmasked heads in the line and I like both of these, even if it's just sticking with their pale theme) if they become available, but I will end up bagging up a lot of unused parts. The con exclusive two-packs from last year were effin' amazing though, I ended up using all spare heads on other figures.

I really like this knight. I presume he has all the new articulation points, ala Valiant Knight. I haven't gotten one of their new builds yet, but I'm guessing they are only including those parts with extra range in their new knight figures? Did they ever list what those parts are specifically? I'm guessing elbow joints, knee joints, and the neck joint.

I'm glad to see the regular version comes with both the flip visor human head and the flip visor skull head, as I really like the slashed visor look they are modeling on the skeleton build out. The green zombie head, the helmet with the wings, and the red eyed face plate are what are exclusive to Legions Con, and while cool, I can live without them. This might wind up being my first new knight.

Honestly I am pretty tired of all the exclusive con only bonuses. I have been a 4 Horsemen fan and supporter from way back to the FanEx bull and 7th Kingdom days (and still am today). I used to be a 100% completist until the con bonuses broke me of it. My wallet is very grateful for that. Now I tend to be extremely selective of what I get. I think these pack outs are great but I am bummed that I realistically won’t have a chance for either of the con exclusives, especially the nymph. From the pictures I think I like the short black hair sculpt the best but I am pretty sure that is one of the exclusive heads.

Good to see a familiar name from way back then.

Thanks! I have never fully disappeared but I have never been as active as I was on their forum way back when. It definitely brings a smile to my face when I see the names I recognize from all the years of collecting. I may be pretty silent but I am still reading. lol

I've been arguing the deluxe builder figures aren't really that great of a deal. I'd rather just have two complete figures offered than one figure with parts to make it into another figure. You always end up with extra parts lying around. Just give me two figures for a few dollars more.

The Crossroads knight has the new Valiant arms. I don't think it has the new neck articulation, but I'm not sure. I don't think the Valiant changed any articulation below the waist.

I'm also not a fan of con exclusive parts/figures. I live in Los Angeles. Almost all of the cons the 4H attend are midwest or east coast. When they do attend a con out here, it's not really feasible to attend it, such as this weekend's one which is in northern California. I know they're attending SDCC this year, which is the first time in years. I coincidentally stopped going to SDCC years ago. A friend of mine who attends will usually pick stuff up for me, so I may have him get me some of that Barbarian figure this year. I've really soured on attending conventions (SDCC is way too crowded), so Con exclusives just aren't appealing to me unless they're offered online as well. While it is nice the MyL exclusives also go up for sale later in the year, I don't like the exclusive parts being part of them.

My wife and I used to run a small business and work the comic convention circuit so I can appreciate the Horsemen trying to incentivize folks with extra spending money to come out to their convention, but I've also never seen them post a convention exclusive that I just had to have. I really considered picking up Demistros when he went up for sale online, but I had just assembled a skeleton king with a very similar suit of armor only a few months before they revealed Demistros so I ultimately passed on him.

I really dislike these deluxe builder packs as well. Spending a bunch of extra money to end up with one figure & a bunch of extra parts in a bin is really unappealing to me. And I've passed on plenty of figures I'd have happily bought as a standard release, but couldn't bring myself to pay $50+ just for the stuff. But oh well, they'll come out with more I want soon enough!

I don't know if I've seen this anywhere else, but someone posted the parts that are con exclusive. I'm actually okay with not getting the extra parts from the male figure (I'd probably just use the human head--the red eyed version is cool but I can live without it). I would prefer the short hair version of the female figure the best, but if I can only find a non-con exclusive I'd be happy with the non-rotting face only and call it a day.

Understood. Jeremy with the 4H explained the Con exclusives help offset the cost of running the Con. Typically the retail versions of the Con exclusives were cheaper (due to less parts I suppose), but they heard people often skipped the exclusive version for the retail. So they made the price the same. Frankly, they always seemed to sell through of the exclusives with only a limited amount going up on LegionShop after the show. So I'm not sure they were really losing any sales of the Con sets to people waiting months for the retail versions. But I understand the reasoning.

Also, they mentioned there are more Con exclusives yet to be revealed. Not a huge fan of Con exclusives as they seem to create a have and have not fraction of fans. They're definitely trying to reward fans for going to Cons, but it can also feel a bit culty at times.

Regarding the Con bonus pieces. Yeah, I don't care about the red eyed faceplate. And while I do think the Gorgo head is overused, I think it also looks damn cool on this figure. He'd pair well with the Unknown one. I may try for the Con version of this guy should he go up online somehow. Will they put up any leftovers on the Mythic Legions shop instead of LegionShop (since it's now closed)?

The Gorgo head has started to become the one piece included in every Legions Con exclusive so I don’t expect that to go away anytime soon. Making it a con-only head is fine since it has been used so many times. It’s a great head nonetheless.

And yeah, living more towards the west coast, I’m not able to make it to many of these events (luckily they are attending one show in my area in September) so getting many of the exclusives isn’t feasible. Luckily they do have ‘standard’ editions for many of them. Those Zolo con ones seem to be the exception. Some of the exclusive parts are must haves though so I’ll probably be scouring eBay for those.

But I get it, the idea behind con exclusives is to help fund the trip to the conventions. The more expensive the convention, like Legions Con for them, the more they need to sell to offset their costs. They do the con exclusives better than most companies though.

I can certainly stand to miss out on the knight's extra parts. I will concur, though, that the Golgo head is fantastic. But I have the Unknown One already and I'm OK with that being that.

For some reason I thought the new knights like Valiant had extra range in the knees.

I bought one of the new neck pegs off of eBay to use on a custom and the range of motion it offers is well worth the upgrade. I'll be dissapointed if this guy doesn't come with it.

Really love the look of the leather mixed in with the dirty metal, it's what sold me on this guy. I might need to pick up an extra set of those leather pauldrons though, they'd look really good on him.

I really hate exclusives, of any kind. The 4H seem to relish the fact that they're making a really desirable figure like the valiant knight, the serpent men or not-Conan exclusive. Exclusives suck for all collectors, even the ones attending the cons. It seems pretty stupid, to me at least, to ask your fans to spend money on planes, hotels, food, then ask them to spend a ton of money on your toys. Seems they would sell a ton more if they just sold them online, no? I mean the phrase keep it simple exists for a reason.

The valiant knight body does have extra range on the neck, shoulders, elbows, waist, and knees. Pretty much all the new knights or knight-likes they're making since the release of the VK have the new parts. Its honestly getting to the point where I wish they made new knight parts for variety's sake. Medieval armors came in plenty of different looks and configurations, so there's plenty of reference to choose from.

That said I really liked the new knight, he looks a lot like a bunch of customs people used to do with rare parts, with that dirty, worn armor look. I wish he came with a normal human head, not just the (uhg) exclusive red eyed head.

He does come with a normal human face without red eyes under the main head’s visor.
