Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

I watched the last hour or so of the telethon thing. A pretty cool night. Eric and Cornboy seemed legitimately shocked at the numbers sold and were very appreciative to the fans for their support. Eric would just shake his head like he couldn't believe it whenever sales updates were given.

It's the moments after a Haslab or big Kickstarter where I usually feel a bit guilty or remorseful about spending so much on a "toy" but with this I have no regrets, I'm just genuinely happy I'm a part of it and I'm able to support these guys (and gals).

This feels like a true accomplishment. It’s been talked about since nearly the conception of the line. Horses, Trolls, brutes, ogres, skeleton horses, and bears were all stepping stones to get to this point. Each ‘risk’ they took, the support was there for them. This isn’t like Hasbro needing to meet some corporate metric for the big item to work for them. 2,000 is a very modest funding minimum at a fair price point. Could they have sold more if the price was less? Absolutely! But would it have worked if it was just $400 but needed 10,000 backers? Maybe not. I think they have some good numbers based on years of preorders and were pretty much on target with the stretch goals. That extra almost-thousand on top of that is probably genuine surprise.

As someone who doesn't collect Mythic Legions (yet), I really wanted this just to use as it's own display with the included figures. The time wasn't right for me though but I'm sure we haven't seen the last of the large dragons. I would love a red one.

Same. My Beyithirr will be fighting against Hammond Collection dinosaurs, Marvel Legends, and Mafex figures mostly.

Honestly if Super 7 hadn't announced their Tiamat a few months ago I would have bought this just to have the D&D kids squaring off against him. I realize this dragon destroys Super 7's in every metric but given a chance at a mediocre Tiamat that at least looks cartoon accurate, that's what I have to go with for that display.

I ultimately skipped the wings addition. FOMO was keeping them on my mind, but I just don't think the value was there. While I liked the Ashen Zombie, I realized I'd only likely attach the wings a time or two. Not work the $150+ for that. Also, the regular wings seem large enough.

I know this dragon campaign just ended, but I do wonder when the next one rolls around. I'm certainly not clamoring for another one any time soon. I imagine the 4H will wait until this dragon is done and shipped to fans. Let it all settle a bit before attempting another. I also wonder if it would be all-new or reuse some of the green dragon. Reuse is baked into the line, but for super large, super expensive item, maybe it's better to do something all-new. And will other dragons be different sizes? Maybe even different shaped? Shorter and wider? Multiple heads? It would be nice to see some really unique dragons instead of this one repainted.

I can't remember which of the 4H was in the video, but I watched a conversation/interview where they were messing with the prototype and the interviewer was talking about how he planned on customizing this dragon. The Horseman at the table (I feel bad blanking on who of the guys was there) said: I don't want to tell you not to pursue your dreams, but we have other dragons coming and they're going to look different from this one. He specifically called out the tiny dragon familiar in the last preorder wave as their first dragon before Big B here. I wonder if we'll see smaller dragons or something like a Chinese style dragon before a re-paint of the green fella.

Honestly I hope they give this one - and their customers - time to breathe before another big dragon. A smaller, say moose-sized dragon mount would be something I hope they consider before another massive crowdfunder, in part to give folks who couldn't swing this guy a chance to own a dragon and also to not take advantage of the pockets of their consistent backers.

Unrelated - would it be ok to post pics in this thread of Legions stuff? I was goofing off with an Extreme Set castle backdrop I bought a year ago and only had time to put together this weekend, threw a bunch of legions into action poses, wanted to share but didn't want to clutter up the thread if it's all business.

Post those pics, man!

A reasonably sized dragon is one of my top five toy wants now. Give me Beyithirr in this scale.

My man, how is this even a question? That's what we're here for!

Looks like BBTS did order some dragons! If you missed out, they have the dragon and both add on sets up for preorder with a NRD.

$800 for the dragon is actually pretty reasonable considering I paid about $666 after shipping and taxes. Factor in their $4 shipping and it’s a small markup all things considered.

Yeah, it's not too bad for those having second thoughts — and you don't pay full amount till delivery. I would love to know how many BBTS bought.

Y'know, considering their usual markup and shipping, it's not very overpriced. Glad some folks who might have hesitated have a chance to get him for RATIONALLY more. Though the markup makes me glad i caved - I'm on the East Coast so shipping was mild compared to what everyone else was paying.
