Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

Every time I hear stories like that I wonder how I got so lucky that I'm not surrounded by assholes. I don't hang with many gamers who collect action figures but everybody has their own weird thing and we all just kinda support it. A Godzilla fan, a horror nut, two LARPers, comic book dudes, knitters, history nuts, beer snobs... I somehow have managed to run off exhausting dickheads from my entire personal life.

I mean hell, I had a contractor in my house last year, total jock of a guy, saw my Marvel figures on a shelf and asked if he could take a picture to send to his wife to prove grownups can put toys on display. He literally texted her a pic of the Avengers saying "babe, THIS guy's wife doesn't get mad at him when he has his nerd stuff out. It's in the LIVING ROOM!"

I find a lot of the people doing judging have other s*** going on that's holding them back or self- sabotaging but I'm the one who's actually going to therapy and putting in work on what I want to do so... I got to watch out for number one.

And then you meet other people who do that so after some growing pains that pays out.

I want to give credits to the four horsemen, these dwarves are probably the best out of box experience I have had with them. Everything moves everything sockets. Only hot water I needed was just a quick run of the tap just for peace of mind with the shoulder pauldrons on both, but that's a huge step up from having to boil everything out of the box.

Really enjoy them. Might want another set. Probably not. Hopefully they put these bodies to some repaint reuse. Maybe I'll just grab other dwarves now.

Quick question on the dwarves: there's a belt that's included on the side. I don't know what it's for. Is it for her? Even their official Wiki loadout and photos do not show this belt or mention it.

If I were going to guess, that's a decorative belt to swap out instead of the metal one she comes equipped with. There's no way that's going on anyone unless you pop the body apart at the thorax but I think it's fit around her waist.

It really is a great set. I think my only complaint with it was the original loadout looked like it came with extra hands and didn't, but tend to only use one set of hands anyway so i'm not super annoyed by that. (Unless other people got the alt hands? In which case I should hit up their customer service.)

No, I didn't get any extra hands and it was a complaint I saw in two reviews in my lead up to this delivery.

I don't want to pop them apart at the waist. That's scary. Although she does have some nice range with that setup.

I ONLY pop the waist like that if it's an absolute must. I think I've only done it twice. It's a bit too intense for my liking.

I remember the dragon man recommended it, and I figured out a way to slide it around like a lockpicking effort and secure it instead.

It would have been easier to attach the tail if I'd popped him apart but I refused and did the lockpicking thing. I did pop apart one figure who had a soft goods Kama that worked better as a cloak and I had to pop him apart to swap how he wore it. That was hair raising.

So I have that new toy fever where I really like the dwarves and now I want to pick up a few armory knights. It's gross.

But I was showing my middle brother. He's the least nerdy of all of us, but as a child he had that Fisher-Price Castle. So he's giving me his choices of color, and then he says do you remember my Castle?

And you could buy all the little knights for it to add on.

Is this for those kids? Is this what they're recapturing? Are they just chasing three packs?

If you’re buying armory knights and want a “Hulkbuster Juggernaut” type silhouette might I suggest the “Evil Red Knight”?

I think this combo of parts has a real nice heft to it that looks imposing compared to other figures on the shelf (not sure it would work for a cleric, what with the spikes and all, but it also comes in purple! Although I think the belt is not a impressive on that one)

I find most of us nerdy types, at least that I've interacted with, tend to not be super judgmental about other nerdy things folks are interested in. When they are though, they're insufferable, and I have no patience for them whatsoever. If a D&D geek gives me shit about collecting figures, my response is usually something along the lines of "oh yeah, I'm sure you're considered SO cool by the ladies playing your little game with orcs and wizards. What's it like playing as an elf at the Playboy Mansion?". We all have our silly things we love, and if it brings you joy and doesn't hurt anyone, I'm not going to shit on it no matter how much it may not interest me personally. If you shit on my interests though, I'm going to dump it back on you in a major way.

Of course, the same goes for pretty much ANYONE, regardless of how mainstream their tastes run. Some sports fanatic starts mocking my interest in cosplay, I'm going to turn it around and say something like "yeah, you're so much better than me, spending hundreds of dollars for a replica of a jersey by some dude who gets paid to play with balls. Bet you wish YOU could play with his balls".

100 percent GillMan! I never understood why anyone would care enough to judge anyone else's hobbies or interests (unless it's a harmful thing, of course). It's such an unhealthy effort. Filling you head with such negative thoughts only reinforces a crappy outlook on everything. Same goes for constant complaining in my opinion.

Yeah, my experience with other nerds is they're worse than non-nerds. It has always been the case. You could probably put a qualifier on, as someone told me recently looking at an old photo, I looked more like the antagonist in a teen movie than someone who would have been in Lambda Lambda Lambda.

Oh you read X-Men, but you like that writer? You haven't read that run of Batman? Oh.

You like that sci-fi show? Um.

That's the movie franchise you like?

That's you paid to see that band?

Anime fans love to criticize taste when you don't align.

The amount of dismissal I have seen in the local dungeons& dragons and game store scene if you don't like critical role or hazbin hotel (shared talent).

I especially find that Nintendo and Star Wars fans out in the wild love to try and one up you and maintain some sort of apex predator status over you.

Simply put, just because you like something, You are liking and enjoying it wrong.

I'm not saying it's like Streets of Rage where I'm fighting these people off every time I walk through electronics boutique, but I will say that anytime I see something I could potentially make a connection with in social circumstances, it is my experience that the majority of people treat it like a competition or a tastemaker challenge.

I know I'm not alone in this because a lot of the people in my current circle have become the circle because they also have dealt with people like that. One of my best friends and co-creators is a young lady who had never been able to talk about Star Wars and Resident Evil with anyone until she met me because everyone else was really judgmental and dismissive of what she liked and why.

To me, those people want someone to play ball with, but they've been so used to being belittled by other people in their life , they have become what they hate.
