Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

Just saw my first "sponsored post" about the Kickstarter on FB. I swear I've never seen them do sponsored posts before but that might just be me not noticing previously. What I did notice was it's for "the roleplaying game" but it's just the action figures in the photo, and if you know Mythic Legions at all the photo really isn't that impressive because it's 8 figures masquerading in the ad as 14.

Statistically, shockingly, FB ads are actually the most effective dollar per click marketplace for advertising gaming kickstarters so a sponsored post makes sense, but again, it just kind of hits on that whole "not doing their research" thing this campaign seems to labor in.

That's both surprising and not to me, because FB is still a meaningful platform for local gaming stores due to an event page framework that other major social media just doesn't really have (like, you can schedule stuff on Instagram, but it's for things like auction or performance streams; FB is elderly enough that it still assumes people leave the house). So if you're like me and your FB is basically just an event planner for you now, and you're marking Attending/Interested on Magic prereleases or a weekly D&D night or whatever, you're going to get lots of sponsored gaming ads. And if you're already regularly gaming, you're more likely to spend money on something new.

I noticed last night that 4H had posted on IG that the Rising Sons retailer street date was this Wednesday.

For now, I'm refreshing the BBTS Rising Sons product page every once in a while, hoping folks drop their preorders as they receive in stock soon notices ...

Same boat. I did pre-order the dwarves because, hell yeah, but I slept on Neve and the others. And once that dorklair review series dropped everything around me dried up. I considered second dwarves.

I can still get the shadow elf, but idk if I like her.

Maybe they need a PR firm? Oddly enough, I just received this email at 4:30 p.m. on my work account: Press Release: Beyond the Woods for Legend in the Mist RPG Surpasses €150,000 on Kickstarter
I actually backed Old Oak Games' first kickstarter. Actually I only got the digital of the version of their book, maybe I should see if the new KS has an option to get the print copy.

FB is the devil but it still works. I'm actually running a VERY cheap ad for my books right now and I'm FURIOUS because it's ACTUALLY WORKING. eBook sales are moving at 4x the numbers they were before I started running the ad. I hate giving Zuck money but those ads work (if you know how to use them, aka TURN OFF ALL AI OPTIONS because the AI options de-optimize your ads to get you to spend more.)

I love shadow elves, I got her, and I'm so meh on her. Like, she's fine. Nothing wrong with her, just not a jump forward the way most of this wave was.

I don't care for the blue skin on blue armor look of the shadow elf. The purple skirt doesn't help much either.

Black armor would've worked much better, I think.

Hey Doc — what are your feelings on Diis Paatar (the scorpion guy)? I saw you posted your thoughts on the wave earlier in the thread but the Kickstarter stuff has made it hard to comb through.

I've been super torn on him since the reveals but he's available on eBay for a reasonable price. There aren't many reviews out there on him yet, either.

He's the one I truly regret buying out of the whole wave. He just doesn't fit in with anything else and his bug/claw/hands can't hold his weapons well. I think I only got him because I did an all in cos I wanted literally everything else and it was cheaper to do the whole kit and kaboodle. I personally find him too busy and trying to do too much. There's bits and bobs to his armor that are neat, but not enough to make me glad I have him.

(Like, I can actually find a home for the shadow elf in my collection because I generally like them even though she's not a must-have, but I just find Diis Paatar difficult to enjoy. The hands thing really annoys me. I might even like him more if he had like, alien hands from cosmic legions that matched his skin tone.)

Make sense why he's the only dude reliably in stock on any of the Canadian sites I look at.

Yep same with eBay. Thanks Doc, for the honest assessment. He's seems like a monstery thing I'd normally be all over, but it's very piecemeal and the heads kinda bother me, too. I never considered the hands/claws, that would drive me crazy — and now, looking at the photos it jumps right out at me.

I do think folks are gonna do great things with that body and some parts swaps, though.

Honestly, I dig the base body. But I want to get rid of the scorpion on his back, give him actual hands, , maybe a cloak... like there's a good figure under there but he feels too mishmashed. If you can get him on the cheap though you can absolutely raid him for parts. (I do dig the head sculpt, it's one of the things I appreciate about him.)
