Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

I hear you guys. As much as I liked and appreciated a lot of the packaging I have pretty much gotten rid of 90% of it and am close to getting rid of the last 10%.

At least with 4H their packaging is generic to the wave - I'll keep a cardback or two from each wave even if I toss the rest of the packaging because it's easy to store just one for reference. (And those little bios I save like I'm keeping baseball cards.)

Got 4H's email about the All-Star wave and tariffs - of course hours after they send the notification that they're holding the not-all-in figures in China til the dust settles, we get a temporary reprieve. I hope they're able to move stuff fast enough to avoid another slowdown but who knows. I feel like at this rate we'll be old men by the time the Rising Sons wave can get safely into the US.

Maybe they'll ship the individual figures as well, since the tariffs have reduced. But they'd still be absorbing 30% which sucks for them. I imagine the factory won't hold up manufactured orders indefinitely, so the 4H may need to send them now. They'd arrive before the 90day reduction ends. But I suppose there could be further reductions at the end of 90days.

Regarding packaging. I tend to only keep import packaging if it's a figure which could be hard to box up in a generic box (point bits) should I need to sell it down the road. For Mythic Legions, I had literally hundreds of empty blisters in storage. Went through them last year and just threw them out. I did keep some of the cardbacks and bios, but I should probably just toss them as well. This is a line where packaged figures don't necessarily add much to the aftermarket value. I still have a ton of packaged MyL figures, but only because I don't have space to open everything. I do need to start selling stuff I have, including extra MyL figure. Plus, I think keeping toys in packaging kinda defeats the purpose of owning toys.

I don't envy any company but particularly small shops like this who have to gamble with do we pay 30% now or hope things work themselves out in 90 days vs. risking them raising the tariffs and starting the shenanigans all over again.

30% isn’t a huge increase from the 20ish percent that has been in effect for years prior to all this. All items over the last few years should at least have that 20% factored in so it would likely just be 10% that wasn’t accounted for. Still sucks but certainly not as bad as it was for a few weeks there.

I just realized I didn't go All-In on All-Stars 6, because it had 4 re-releases in it (hence the All-Stars branding). Guess I'll be waiting even longer for this wave. Understandable given the current tariff situation.

Speaking of long waits, though. Weren't the 4H supposed to be working to reduce how long it would take to fulfill preorders? I realize new delays will be happening due to tariffs, but I think the All-Stars 6 wave was preordered in July 2023. Obviously, tariffs have thrown everything into wack, but even without tariffs kurfuffles, delivery would be just under 2 years for the wave. Are they just launching too many projects?

I dunno, full waves of theirs always seem to run late. They do manage to get Figura Obscura and other timed items like con exclusives done in time. Those may by their nature bump existing orders like waves a bit to get those out in time. Hopefully they can start catching up though!

They always seem super late - I know the original arrival date for Rising Sons was this month and I doubt we'll see that wave in this calendar year if the tariffs cause a slowdown. They HAVE been a lot better about updating where each wave is though, with updated calendars on socials.

Their Wednesday night Mythic Conversations on YouTube are a great source of info and updates. Unlike the ‘big guys’ they don’t have anything to hide and if they don’t have an update yet, they’ll say so but fully acknowledge things are running behind schedule. While the lateness sucks, I do appreciate their honesty and sharing details when they can. I think I read somewhere that their full time staff is like 14 people so they are indeed a small company despite being legends in the toy industry. When I read that I understood better why it takes weeks to get a Figure Obscura drop to ship let alone full waves of figures.

I've been with MyL from the start (and other KS toy campaigns as well), so I'm used to long delays. I don't have a problem with it. You know the MyL preorders will be fulfilled. It just seems they were sometimes around 18 months to get fulfilled, but are now looking at 24+ months.

I certainly do give all companies, and especially small ones, more leeway with delivery times. I think collectors obsess a bit too much over delivery dates. There are so many moving parts to the manufacturing, shipping, and distribution of these things which can cause delays. Best to not fret too much over delivery dates.

Yeah, I don't even fret about their lateness. It's one of those things where "I know I want these, they get here when they get here." I fully expect to be in my 50s when the dragon gets here but I went into it knowing that would be the case. Honestly, the only time I notice Mythic shipping dates is I've got two or three things I preordered on BBTS instead of direct and I'll see them pop up like "nope, that's not a real date, I can ship my POL without regrets." The single dwarf alternate head is definitely not shipping this month but no worries. Really the only figure I'm anxious about is the shadow orc I bought to be the body for the panther head.

I don't believe the shadow orcs are black, so a panther head on them probably won't match. I can try the pairing for you this weekend and show you how it looks.

The Necronimus wave hasn't been offered on Store Horsemen yet as in-stock, right? The seem to have really pushed back when they offer waves as in-stock. I'm guessing to give retail partners plenty of time to get sales. And the 4H also keep a bunch of stock for shows. Anyone notice just how long it takes for waves to be offered as in-stock at Store Horsemen? 6 months? 12 months? Hell, they just put the first two waves of Cosmic Legions up as in-stock and those must have been out for a year or more, right?

I'm interested in buying another Bishop horse (maybe so I can use the armor on other horses) and I know the prices on 4H are cheaper than other retailers. So I'm willing to wait.

I'd be really curious how it looks (I don't even know if that orc body has a plug for the tail!). The order was already placed so I'm already committed to the figure, but maybe I should be popping that head on an armoury knight or something instead.

Not sure if this falls more under Mythic or Cosmic but:
