Forum Feedback

Our most popular subforum on the ProBoards site was the General Toys forum. How do folks feel about moving General Toys to the top of the subforum list? I did it on my initial XenForo draft but it felt too revolutionary for primetime.

I actually like the idea of listing them by popularity, though we'll need more time to see which subforums folks are visiting.

General should definitely go on top.

Personally? I'd put the two general purpose subforums up top, which to me are the general and video game boards (more niche, but a general topic nonetheless). Then list by popularity, or by what makes sense. Marvel -> DC -> Star Wars -> GI Joe -> Transformers -> TMNT -> MOTU would be a comfy flow.

All that aside, even just putting general on top would be a stellar change.

I always sorta thought NECA deserved its own category page.
I didn't love that Fwoosh gave other Hasbro lines their own board, but I'm open to it.

I do feel like General has become overwhelming with so many third parties and smaller companies popping up.

There's also the potential for over-categorization. I don't want to reinvent the wheel, but I'd like it to be as clean and easy to navigate as possible.

If there is a way to put the most trafficked or recently posted forums up top that would be my vote. You could easily see the direction the site tends to lean in. I also think that general could bog it down too much, too much choice as it were. If I had to pick one category, it would be Marvel to put at the top. For the only reason that the the Fwoosh was the only real message board that catered to it well. And if this forum is to be a life raft of from castaways from there, I would tend to want to see it focused as such.

I think General would be well placed at the top. I also feel this is where the Toy Sales thread should go. There is no reason to keep it in the Marvel section just because Fwoosh did it. Then again I started the 1st Sales thread in the General section at Fwoosh and only like 9 or 10 people ever posted in it for like a year before someone made one in the Marvel section and that one blew up, so what do I know.

I haven't been able to log into Fwoosh for 2 weeks no matter which method I tried, which was really frustrating as I wanted to update news in a thread I started and couldn't. So I wish them the best, but this site is already the best figure/toy forum on the web. :)

I think each subforum should have its own respective sales thread. All I collect, or have any interest in, are Marvel Legends and I don't really frequent any of the other lines' subforums so, the more streamlined the better.
I expect no one likes repeatedly clicking on new posts in a thread only to see irrelevant/uninteresting (or off-topic) content.

I second this. I never clicked the DC Sales thread on Fwoosh...

Okay, leaning toward moving General to the top. Marvel would still be second.

I thought more about this last night. If you guys check out the Customs forum, you'll see the Customizer's Workshop subforum at the top of the page.

We could create subforums within General Toys to keep things better organized. The major companies with multiple lines would qualify for a subforum. Definitely NECA, Jada, and Hasbro. Maybe SHF?

Thoughts?

I selfishly want the Marvel forum to stay at the top. It's my main interest and I always felt like Fwoosh was a Marvel Legends community first (or at least originally) and I liked that one remnant always remained even as the forums branched out. There really is no other dedicated place on the web that I'd rather talk about Legends than the Fwoosh, and now, Articulated Thoughts. I won't quit in protest if General takes it's place, though.

The new forum is awesome, by the way. Really enjoying it so far!

Yeah, and also BigBadStudios, or whatever they are calling the big BBTS-backed indie deal with the Fresh Monkey guys for Operation Monster Force, Naughty or Nice, Soldiers of Fortune, etc.
