Figura Obscura

Same here but I added a couple of in stock figures to my order so I expect that will put me at the end of the line since it’s not a quick and easy elephant in the box and tape it up job. I usually seem towards the back despite ordering within the first minute. Never have been able to figure out their process as it doesn’t seem to be first in first out. I’m in no rush. I’ve actually yet onto open last year’s spring release Egyptian gods. The amount of accessories they have seems overwhelming so I put it off. I actually went back and picked up a Monkey King on eBay and that should arrive tomorrow so I’ll probably start there and then the Egyptians. Now there is more of a theme evident for this spring drop the display won’t seem so random and out of place. Random but thematic, perhaps.

Mine is still shipping. I wish the 4H would do some Greek and Norse Gods. Maybe even a deluxe set with Thor with his goat drawn chariot.

I think the biggest thing going against the Norse gods is avoiding the Marvel-ness of them at this point. If you avoid Thor, Loki, and Odin are there ones people are still familiar enough with to sell well? I think they knew Basset was the weaker of the Egyptian offerings and making them a two-pack was probably an afterthought to avoid selling a bunch of Anubis and not enough of her. I suppose that’s the risk of any of the FO offerings but most haven’t been too obscure yet and the majesty of the sculpture and painting has made less known characters like the Red Death works of art.

Work of art is a good description. Received Ganesha yesterday. Never thought I'd be purchasing a figure of a Hindu deity and enjoying it so much. It looks amazing and all the extra pieces make this a really great set. It might be my favorite FO ... it's in the top three with Headless Horseman and Monkey King, anyway.

It took them SO long to ship the Headless Horseman to me back when they offered it. It bummed me out too, because I was actually going to be headed through Sleepy Hollow, NY in late October that year, and wanted to stop and take some pictures around the town with the set.

But nope, somewhere around 3 weeks or a month for them to ship it. You all still waiting to get even a shipment confirmation have my sympathy. Fast shippers, they are not.

LOVE this figure. Probably only topped by the Headless Horseman for me, but that's almost an unfair comparison if you include the horse.

How many here are going to take this Ganesha love and purchase the Hanuman figure which is both 4 Horsemen and not 4 Horsemen? I don't really understand. Maybe others can explain.

I think Norse stuff will always sell. I wouldn't be too worried about being Marvel adjacent on that one. Lots of hungry vikings fans within the 4H orbit, I think. With their viking wave dropping later this year or early next year, I wouldn't be surprised if we got a Norse God to compliment them. But who knows!

They should be able to have their cake and eat it too with the Norse gods. They can include a traditional head and a Marvel-ish head.

Wow, got my Ganesha this weekend, he's incredible. Absolutely gorgeous figure with so much presence. The huge amount of accessories allow for so many different looking display options. And I'm surprised at how much fun he is to pose. He has so much attitude. I'm using a peg hole stand for him and he's balancing well, but the ankle joints could be a bit tighter. Will probably kiki them later.

Definitely going to be on the top 10 list at the end of the year, and definitely a figure of the year contender.

Well after liking Ganesha so much I decided to go back and pick up the only other two FIgure Obscura figures that I had missed out on. Sun Wukong (gold version, which I actually liked better) showed up today and he is great but feels a bit light on the accessories. Masque of the Red Death should be here Monday and I sprung for the first release red robed version of this one because I think that one just looks better. I almost got him when he was first released because the accessories were so cool but I was trying to cut back at the time. I got one for not much over retail though, so not too bad.

Now to do some rearranging to make room.

Work of art is right. It is an amazing piece, and it is so well done, it looks like a Statue in any pose. For money and space reasons (mostly space) I have held back on most of the obscura stuff. All of it is amazing, but I only have the original OG Krampus and OG Headless horseman. This and the OG egyptian duo I find to be the best so far.
