Figura Obscura

Just went and grabbed a Ghost of Christmas Past figure to use as a base for Idunn. I saw someone do that over at The Cabal, and thought it looked cool. Just need some other stuff to add to her.

I did order the Jersey Devil. As a Jerseyan I had also regretted not getting Mrs Leeds baby boy.

I just this week ordered from eBay the Ganesha figure (only $70 so not a terrible overpay) as I figured it was sold out. Arrived this morning and what a great figure that is in terms of detail, paint and accessories...

Picked up the Jersey Devil after FOMO kicked in and their international shipping options were surprisingly reasonable. Had to resist Ganesha again since I can't justify him with childhood nostalgia or fit him in with other toylines like I can with the Egyptian gods or Journey to the West offerings.

I’ve got my Jersey Devil hanging out with the Headless Horseman. I like that we got both of these urban legends. I live in Jersey, but at least an hour or two from the Pine Barrens where the Devil typically is, but I’m just a half hour from Sleepy Hollow! They have a festival around Halloween that celebrates the Horseman.

...urban legends...
How dare you, sir! The Jersey Devil is real. Not like those crazy stories about a Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot or a Yeti. Real I say.

This explains it, you live up north, not with the real Jerseyans. 😅

I am also tempted by the Headless Horseman, but trying (and failing) to reduce my collection...

One of my great heartbreaks is that my headless horsemen arrived unfixably broken - got him second hand from eBay and one of his legs is just never going to stay on (not the seller's fault, the figure was still in the plastic wrap, but figured getting him from someone else removes any option to get a replacement part). But, as my avatar picture attests, the head has happily found a home on an armoury knight. He's Sir Corbin Steed the Once-Headed, a cheerful revenant who never acknowledges his head is a pumpkin.

He's also going to hang with the Jersey Devil, which is a figure I like SO much more in hand than I did in photos.

Slightly off-topic, but was searching for images of the Monkey King figure and came across a set of Journey to the West figures from Hayou Toys. Looked around and found some more info:

Sets of the four main characters plus the horse seem to be on eBay - expensive however! Was wondering if anyone had gotten these.
