Figura Obscura

Sheesh bobeesh, that Ganesha is beautiful! If they're venturing into Gods and deities, they should be set for a while, with all the Norse, Greek/Roman, Chinese, etc. Ganesha looks stunning, though- I've had an odd rising appreciation for elephants here lately. Seeing this also reminds me how much I'd love another Blue Lantern Brother Warth from DC, but that's another thread.

Every release 4H puts out seems to be at least as good, if not better, than the last. It's wonderful seeing a company sustain their quality. I only have the more spooky ones- Headless Horseman and Red Death- for space and money purposes, but man, have I been tempted by some of these other ones!
 
Next drop is tomorrow. Certainly seems like we’re finally getting our first cryptid! The question is: which one? The New Jersey sighting makes me think Jersey Devil unless they’re having fun with us and just meaning their warehouse located in NJ. Being they are a Jersey based team, I still think Jersey Devil makes the most sense. Not a lot of stuff out there for it to compete with and it ought to be a really fun design with hooves, wings, tail, and hose-like face.
 
Definitely got to be the jersey devil. Is this a new cryptid slot they are adding? We don't usually have an August release do we?

I'm guessing we will still have an October horror release too.
 
My mental image of the jersey devil would look so weird as an action figure. I'm excited to see what they do. I figure this is the "Halloween" slot, but I'd be happy if I was wrong.

I think this is the Halloween release. Jermey did say the last few months of this year would be kinda crazy. I’m guessing they’ll be launching the Graveyard release in October so they probably needed to bump the Figura order up a bit to fit everything in. They say this isn’t yet in stock but currently on the water with shipping estimated to be the end of September and into October, which is how it was for Frankenstein last year. I remember because my local comic con was the weekend after the Frankenstein drop and I was able to pick one up at the show before my order even shipped. Wonder if the same will happen with this year? Haha

The best depiction I’ve seen recently was Jean St. Jean’s statue he did for Small Town Monsters’ Kickstarter. I have it along with the rest of their kickstarter statues and it’s great!

Newspaper style announcement is giving me serial killer vibes. Have they done Jack the Ripper yet? I think the NJ warehouse mention is just that, not a clue to the Jersey Devil…

Jack the Ripper was my first thought too when I first saw the old newspaper, but the writing style seems more 20s-40s IMO. Then the references to sightings and hunting also made me second guess. I'm not sure the 4H would do a real serial killer, and now that I think of it, I'm not sure I'd want them to. I was also getting King Kong vibes, but I don't believe he is in the public domain yet.

I guess I'm hoping for the Jersey Devil or other cryptid.
 
If it is the Jersey Devil I'm really curious how they implement it. I feel like there's no way they name drop Jersey in that newspaper article without it being a hint. And the Jersey Devil's been sighted since what, the 1700s? Old timey newspaper is appropriate.

So, related to absolutely nothing here:

But fuck the Small Town Monsters guy, Seth. He's from the next town over, and I was actually planning on working with him on a few things after their first documentary, but uh...

...not to bring politics into this, but we...clashed...to say the least. He was a Rand Paul guy. And during Paul's presidential campaign, Seth agreed with and said some pretty abhorrent things that aligned with Paul on Facebook. I told him how disappointing it was to see him say these things, and tried to present the facts, and he blew a gasket at me, and long story short, fuck him.

I was actually wondering if they have any animal parts from the mounts in Mythic Legions to steal for the back legs, but they'd be too big and not stable enough I think. Might be a lot of new parts.
 
If it's Jersey Devil, that's an easy pass for me.

I am not a big enough cryptid fan to buy it, and I won't buy everything the 4H make, so hoping this ends up being a pass.
