(Mods, apologies if this out of bounds!) I saw Ru had a thread about his books and wanted to do something similar today because one of my novelettes is free for Halloween, thematically. My original publisher suggested I write a holiday "one-shot" for my superhero novels years and years ago, so I decided I should do one for all the holidays like some kind of maniac. I got as far as Halloween for Blood & Bone, which is my love letter to how so many superhero stories are really werewolf stories in the end, and a running theme about how the real monsters are generally humans.

It's a one-off story about one of the characters from my Indestructibles series, but it's meant to stand alone and not have any required knowlwdge from the main books. I've got a Christmas one-shot and a superheroes vs. Krampus novella I give away around the appropriate holidays, too (when I actually remember that Krampusnacht is an actual date on the calendar and schedule the giveaway, which is always iffy).

Anyway, I like werewolves, it's free for Halloween, and I'm up here in Salem trapped in my house because traffic is Fury Road outside my house, so I thought I'd throw up a post about the freebie!

Actually Blood & Bone is free on 11/1 til midnight, too. It's a lil baby novelette but I love that I have an option to do this during the year (actually I highly recommend it for other writers too because if you have some short fiction on Kindle or Kobo you can just on a whim be like "I feel like giving some stories away today!" and just impulsively do a giveaway. Harder to do with full-sized paperbacks etc., those need more planning).

Self-promotion is always welcome here. (Within reason, as per our forum rules.) A thread celebrating your work is good with us.

I grabbed Blood and Bone. I have every intention to read your books (as well as Ru's) as soon as I have time.

Why is your author portrait so sexy?

Meaning, the ebook version but paperback length?
Yeah, the novelettes are usually not a big priority for publishers so giveaways can be impulsive, but they get a little anxious about it with the full-length ebooks. Those tend to need more planning, like you want to make sure you have ads and stuff.

Oh man, it's the one the publisher wanted to use and I've never gone back and changed it. I should swap in something more accurate, like a really exhausted middle-aged Charlie Brown.

Heh, yeah ads are something I should look into...

With that smile? Charlie Brown exhausted because he just got some trim maybe.
