Do You Still Actively Read Comics?

Yes, but I’m behind. It used to be easy to run to the comic shop after work, but then they moved just a bit too far away, making it harder to catch my train in time. So now I get the main titles I want delivered each month. Mostly Iron Man, Avengers, and West Coast Avengers (loving all the Ultron’s!).

And I have Marvel Unlimited.

Yes. I've had a pull list for the last 13ish years. It ebbs and flows based on what I think is worth reading.
Most of my stack is indie comics and non-superhero.
Do you have specific recs? I've had trouble finding a new wave of indies to follow after my initial picks ended.
I have a pull list for Image and Dynamite singles.
Same question to you.

I haven't had a pull list since the early 2000s. There were some cascading crossover events that left me overwhelmed, underwhelmed, and pretty disinterested.
I think that’s what ultimately did me in along with rising prices, progressively darker overtones, and an ill fated trip to the garage with a stack of bagged and boarded comics that went sliding out of my hands and all over the floor. I remember that as being the final straw. 😂

Let met get back to you in DM, but off the cuff my dinner party highlights the past decade are:

Extremity by Daniel Warren Johnson. It's about an artist who loses her dominant hand and is forced to become a warrior to avenge her tribe in a sci-fi fantasy setting. It is based on his very real fear of losing his drawing hand. Amazing book.

Something is Killing the Children

Paper Girls

Deadly Class

Descender/Ascender

Nice House on the Lake

Some oldies just because I have Cthulhu on the brain after yesterday:

Glitterbomb
Mnemovore

Deniz Camp: 20th Century Men

Yes, but not as actively as I did up through the end of the Krakoan era in X-Men comics since I hated that they ended it and hated what came after.
Biggest thing I have against Hickman is he never really finishes off. I know for this it was editorial and the other writers wanting to stay forever in Phase 2, but it broke all my trust going into Ultimates.

I dont read contemporary comics basically ever. I on occasion will read older runs, mostly around the 80s and such. But not much interest in newer ones

I never actually had a pull list but yes I still read comics. For the last couple years Skybound's Energon Universe has been awesome and is my primary reason for going to the LCS. Since Marvel Legends got really strong again in 2024 through now I have been picking up more Marvel. I dig Joe Kelly on Spider-man and Ryan North on Fantastic Four. There's also classics reprints of FF I dive into sometimes. My favorite is Hulk with Nic Klein's art and will keep buying the Ghost Rider minis.

So I guess I have been more into it than I realized and am into the current One World Under Doom (and Iron Man) to read those as well. My biggest issue with Marvel started 20 years ago by not sticking with creative teams. They are like a bitter ex after Image was formed and think it's only their characters that sell and not artists. Disney only makes it worse. Like how long has Greg Capullo been there?? He had a monthly Batman title and events at DC. Nonetheless there is some good stuff even with all the constant starting over with number 1

I probably take most enjoyment going back and picking up stuff I liked from my era (90s) or other eras. I still enjoy it and 100% all for new looks and characters being in the Legends line. I'd find it awful without it.

Big facts. The new Ultimate Spider-Man and Black Panther books have been great though. I've heard good things about the new Ultimate X-Men too but I'm not into manga so I haven't read it.

Been enjoying all of it, but yeah. Thankfully he seems to be getting his follow through on it.

I do read comics still, but with a lot of caveats. I tend to dip in and out a lot now. I think I blame Marvel a bit for souring me. The constant mega-plots that seem to not actually go anywhere and that seem to dissipate or get ignored by the rest of the books. That big X-Men storyline where they all decided to go be their own country a few years ago was really the last time I was reading comics regularly and trying to follow the whole story.
It went fucking nowhere. It got severely convoluted within 6 months or so. It was just bad. And I'm just tired of investing time in something that even the publisher clearly doesn't have a plan for and doesn't really give a fuck about.

My favorite Krakoa thing was X of Swords. I don't think that's a popular opinion. Hellions ruled, too.

Thanks. I've read everything here except for Extremity, Glitterbomb, Mnemovore, and 20th Century Men. I'll definitely grab Extremity.

Not really, I still occasional get the IDW TMNT ongoing series trades. But I have yet to pick up the first trade, of the new ongoing series. To be honest, it just got too expensive, and for awhile, I was busy with work, etc.
