Convention Questions for the Legends Team...

My understanding of things in the past is that anything that is designed for Marvel Legends can't be shared with other lines, because Marvel has some claim to it. But, things developed for Hasbro owned lines, without licensor issues, can potentially be shared with Legends.

So a horse built for Legends couldn't be shared with Joe.... but a horse built for G.I. Joe could potentially be used for Legends - assuming Marvel didn't balk.
What we don't know for sure is if using a thing you've already made for your own property in a licensed property -transfers- some of those rights and now you can't go back and use it for your own property ever again.

True story. I feel pretty confident that they probably would steer clear for safety sake, and maybe just hope that if they do make a horse for ML that people might buy one for Sundown or Spirit

Horses.... wolves.... Timber... Lobo...

Can you imagine if Marvel could just borrow Timber's molds for Lobo and save themselves a lot of tooling money?

Yeah the Timber to Lobo repaint would be such an easy win for Hasbro and allow them to charge $45 (more?) for a 'deluxe' pack that would be very cheap to produce.

"Why do you insist on giving us mismatched hands while continuing to raise prices? As collectors yourselves why would you choose not to include corresponding hands given that they're arguably the cheapest way to increase perceived value to buyers?"

It just fascinates me that the conversation turns to this more often than not. Ideas for ways for Hasbro ML to get us things cheap and easy. What would cost them the LEAST amount of money to produce? Well, they've BEEN doing it:
Reselling Vulcan and Sunfire bucks hundreds of times over for years.
Recycling effects pieces hundreds of times over for years.
Cutting accessories.
Cutting articulation.
Minimal paint (if any).
Gummy plastics.
Endless price creep.
And we are STILL shopping them ways to save money? For real life? For YEARS they have done the bare minimum and still sold figures. One would think the money has been saved and that they could invest back into the line a little bit without going belly-up. What if you just made your own damn wolf, Hasbro ML? And what if the fans weren't gouged because you did so? What if we set higher standards?

I think you're looking at it from the opposite angle than it's intended. People aren't trying to save Hasbro money. They're trying to convince Hasbro (and themselves) that Hasbro should/can do something because it fits within Hasbro's established model. I'm sure everyone here would love for whatever thing they want to be a totally unique sculpt with all the bells and whistles. That's always the preference.
But everyone also knows that's just about the worst sales pitch you could ever send to Hasbro.

Agreed with Damien. It’s just people engaging with a basic fact of how the line works. Reuse has been a feature of ML from the very beginning - literally since Toy Biz wave 1.

It’s also just entertaining to look at what’s been made and think about what else it could lead to. There’s only so many new releases to discuss day to day.

I think if you assume the peak of Legends has passed in terms of overall sales - which might be wrong but I think a lot points to this (less presence in brick and mortar retail, more limited retailer exclusives, more product found at discount outlets like Ollies the last couple of years) - then I think we as collectors ought to view this as a relationship with Hasbro where we need to accept there may be more limitations on what they can do, but at the same time be helpful in being clear about what we want to see within those limitations.

So things like "give us options for hands that match the character" and "you have the parts to make (for example) X-Factor or graduation suit Angel, that is a repaint that fans probably would support" and "new power effects would be nice" are good points to make as they likely fit the reality.
