Boss Fight Studios 1/12 and EPIC HACKS

At least the Steampunk version has tons of new stuff - but it's also 10 dollars more than the MORE expensive version of the original figure so... somehow we can get 'all new' parts for the main Sonja for only 50 bucks, but it costs 60 bucks to repaint those parts they already made, and 70 bucks to make different new parts instead, even though it only cost 50 bucks to make new parts the first time?

It's just greed. I keep warning people; as good as stuff looks sometimes this is a trap. Under Andrew's sole leadership, BFS prices have skyrocketed, releases of things people actually like have slowed to a crawl, and quality is in the toilet. Even if you refuse to recognize that he's a piece of garbage that doesn't deserve your money, you should probably recognize when a PRODUCT doesn't deserve your money.

I ended up using some game test gift cards to cover my Sonja and Steampunk Sonja. I was hoping for more on the customization front instead of a gold reissue. Weapons and armor packs, alt heads. Something.

I don't think Sonja even matches any of the blank body skin tones.

I don't think they've even released any Epic HACKS blanks yet, have they? Pretty sure she'll match the 'beige' one? I think they said that - but also it could have changed. That being said, 4" HACKS worked so well because there was SO much stuff to customize with in a fairly short amount of time. With the current release schedule it'll be five years before you even have enough stuff to look seriously at swapping, so you might as well just buy them for the actual figures and forget that customization is even an option for a while.

Andrew can't focus on the HACKS brand that MADE Boss Fight because he's real busy with his cartoony bullshit that sells less than half the units but are his personal pet projects (until they fall apart and moves on to the next one - like Bucky O'Hare).

Conan and Sonja are worth it to me. But the price did make me cancel my preorders for all the Court of the Dead stuff, and the female roman soldier. Those I didn't care enough about to pay the higher prices. And those are cheaper then the Sonja figures. If they ever go on sale I may get them. But way too expensive for what we get. The soldier maybe is a better deal for all the stuff you do get, and she looks nice. But still, I'll wait. And if/when they stop doing Conan and Sonja I probably won't even look at their catalog anymore.

They have not, but just by comparing their own product shots, Sonja is paler than the "champagne" body on both sexes. Which wouldn't surprise me if that was intentional to hawk separate feet and hands.

End of the day, I think this is the best Sonja on the market for posing and how it looks Close Enough to Amanda Conner art. But I'm happy to get Steampunk and call it a day.

That's pretty cool. I definitely like the Immortal Champions Conan/Red Sonja stuff, as it fits in so well with He-Man, and Immortal Champions is meant to mimic the MOTU scale and style. I don't know how much I feel Hellboy goes with MOTU though lol.

But I like the look of the Immortal Champions Hellboy, because I like anything in this style. Still, I don't know if I'll get Hellboy. I always wondered if Boss Fight would do The Phantom or Flash Gordon in this style too.

Those Golden Age characters would look pretty cool in the Origins/Immortal Champions style. Since BFS has made Flash Gordon in a number of styles, I can see them making him in the IC style as well.

I preordered IC Hellboy. He can have adventures with Eternia characters. The glow-in-dark skeletons. Will pair nicely with the Red Shadows character which just went up for order. I can see the Horde characters in particular pairing off against him.

I'm clearance chickening 2 of the wave 2 Fraggles, will pick up OG Mokey if they make her, then I'm likely out with the company. Picked up Wave 1 clearanced at JC Penney or some other rando department store, but Wave 2 is holding out at $45 or so each, which I feel like is too much. Though I like the figs, NECA Sesame Street feel so much better for $10 less.

I'd pick up Bêlit to customize like I did their Red Sonja, to place in my mostly Legion's fantasy display, since by and large I don't love the ML female headsculpts. But $65 (plus mystery tariff fee) is too much for the figure to begin with and the bad vibes I'm gathering about the companies' owner makes it much easier to pass. Though I'm sure there are great people that work there, that have one of the few jobs out there doing what they're doing, so I teeter a bit.

I’m still a little tiffed they put the swappable parts to make the accurate Baron Iron blood and and black major across three figures at this scale instead of two like at 1/18

Just out of curiosity, since BFS's can make figures from the Conan Comics, are there any specific character's you guys want next?

I'd personally like figures of some villains like Thoth-Amon or Thulsa Doom. And I'm assuming they could make Kull and Akivasha, so I'd like them if they can make them.

I'd be highly tempted to get a Thoth-Amon. I don't know though...I still haven't bit on their Conan or Belit, as much as I like them. If Belit had her classic look from the Marvel run, I'd be more tempted, and I feel like the "Battle of Black Stone" Conan scratches the itch for a comic Conan nicely.
