Me too. I've had tons of friends that are into that stuff, but I just don't enjoy traditional horror/slasher films, or gore-porn. I get that it has an appeal for certain people, but no amount of explaining why will ever change my personal feelings about it.
 
I loved pro wrestling as a kid. For some reason, it's about the only interest from that time of my life that doesn't bleed into my nostalgia-driven collecting habits. Thank the gods. I do enjoy retrospectives or docu-series like "Dark Side of the Ring" but haven't watched any actual wrestling programming since I was about 12 or so.

I totally get this. It’s not really for me, either, which is weird on the few occasions I’m around other big horror fans. I have one friend in particular who is like REALLY into Michael Meyers, as in showed up at the cast party for my Dracula show, on Halloween, in full Michael costume, without announcing himself, and silently stalked around the house menacing people, refusing to break character. We weren’t even 100% sure it was him. It was, honestly, fucking creepy and not in a good way at all.

You know, that brings up an interesting point: as I was growing up, I considered all of my interests solitary and was frequently told that what I enjoyed was very odd and that I wouldn’t make friends doing it. So as an adult, when I get the ol’ “eh, not into that and it’s WEIRD” I basically shrug and accept it because that’s what I’m trained to accept. I feel way more socially accepted as an adult, but I’m so hardwired to “live in my head” that I always feel my interests are like a private world that no one really sees except maybe my wife. It didn’t feel lonely as a kid, just singular.
 
I'm not much of a horror person either. The horror I'm into, I love, but my wife is one of those who will watch any horror movie, and one of my kids is like that, so they have that together at least.
 
I enjoy horror, but the gore fests- Saw, Terrifier, etc., I don't really care for. If it's just needlessly mean and needlessly gory, it's not usually my bag, but movies like Scream, or the Alien movies, or more psychological ones like The Others, Sixth Sense, etc. are right up my alley. Though my preferred aesthetic definitely skews more "spooky" than "scary". Scooby Doo is what got me into spooks as a kid, and that's still my wheelhouse- more atmospheric stuff.

Literally all of this.
Especially the Scooby Doo connection. I’m finally taking my wife through Mystery Incorporated right now!!
But ultimately for me it all comes down to
Gothic/supernatural horror. I think the best description of what I love is “dark fantasy”. Folks like Guillermo del Toro, Robert Eggers, (early) Tim Burton, Ken Russell, Bava, Argento, Whale, Romero, Emerald Fennell, I could keep going.
Oh and CLIVE BARKER. All things Clive Barker, he was my preferred alternative to Gaiman even before the yuck came out.
