Articulated Thoughts General Movie and Series News & Discussion

All caught up on Stranger Things. I'll admit I was beyond choked up quite a bit. I love these goofy bastards.

Jonathan finally stopped annoying me, and I guess Steve as well. Glad everyone's on the same page, and amazing to have everyone all together for once! I guess except Erica...

Also, Karen Wheeler, seriously.... fucking awesome. She saw a chance at some payback and boy did she cash in.

I have never watched an episode of Stranger Things, nor do I intend to. Nothing anyone has ever said about it has moved me even an inch toward turning it on. BUT, my son, who does not really watch TV shows with only very few exceptions because he has virtually no attention span for that, binged the entire show basically starting at the end of November.
His best bud watches it and got him interested in giving it a try and he's now almost completely caught up except for I think the final most recent episode.

My son has ADHD, so I get casual info-dumps on what's going on, so despite having ZERO interest in this show I could probably put on a one-man play and reenact the entire thing with a good 85% accuracy rate. Despite knowing what I know about it, I am still not interested in it at all, but my son LOVES it and it's been really cool to watch him discover something without me and just enjoy it because HE likes it. Awesome.

I started watching The Abandons last night. I did not know this show existed. It's a new Wild West limited series on Netflix starring Lena Heady. I LOVE Lena Heady, so I had to give it a shot. Pretty good so far, but I'm only a single episode in (out of 7, I believe).

I wonder if that got him into D&D. Or vice versa.

I enjoyed the first season of Stranger Things. I felt that seasons 2 and 3 were soft remakes of season 1, so I dipped. Nice that it introduced a whole host of new people to D&D, though.

It was the other way around for him. He was already pretty invested in D&D/TTRPGs and that's how his friend got him to watch Stranger Things. He's been pretty hardcore on wanting to play TTRPGs since I ran a session for him and his mom one time like two years ago.
