Age of Primes

I dig Megatronus. The flames I could give or take, but the figure is fire.

Yeah, Megatronus is one of the coolest Transformers figures of all. He just looks amazing and poses so nicely for a big robot. Love the aesthetic.

I saved the first three Aerialbots to open once I had the last two in hand. They are en route via a shipped Pile of Loot. I still don’t know the names of each of the limbs, but I had the vintage Silverbolt in my original collection so I have plenty of affection for him.

Hell, Megatronus is so good, I don't even want the new DNA "upgrade kit," because I don't feel it upgrades anything! He's perfect as is!

Received Venin/Venom, the last two Aerialbots, and G2 Snarl and Slug from my PoL.

The Dinobots are straight recolors, surprising no one. The schemes are silly, but accurate to G2 releases, I suppose. Took a minute to remember how to convert them, which I always appreciate. I don’t like when it’s too easy. Only issue I see with these is the reds don’t match across Snarl. He has at least two distinct shades, due to painted plastic and seemingly faded plastic. The two look great with blue Grimlock though.

Venom also took a minute to figure out, as a new mold. Colors really pop on this one, and I’m psyched to unite him with the other “deluxe” Insecticons.

I haven’t opened the Aerialbots because I haven’t opened ANY Aerialbots. Will need more time than a lunch break from work or prep period. Looking forward to really sitting down with them.

Assembled Superion tonight. The individual bots are fine. Silverbolt is the only one I had as a kid, and he’s fine. They haven’t made a bad Silverbolt in the past 20 years. Really not much different with any of them either. Combined, Superion is pretty majestic. I had a hard time separating the arm bots into their halves above and below the elbow, but eventually got it. I wish the leg bots could plug further into the hollow of the skeletal legs. Seems that emerging plate gimmick leaves a lot of unnecessary hollow space inside each shin. I love the length of Superion’s rifle, but I wish it had the wings of the original.

Picked up Micronus Prime today at Target. Fun little dude! There's a lot going on here.

I haven't read any bio on this guy at all. So based on photos, I saw that he's a smaller robot inside a larger armor. The small guy feels very much like an Armada Micron. In his disc mode, he plugs into the chest of the armor, kinda like a Matrix. The Cybertron artifact plugs into the armor's chest. Cool.

Transforming the armor, that's more of a parts-former, or one of the Weaponizer figures that came out a few years back. Parts convert, but you have to remove the arms, pull the legs off, joined at the hips, then convert the chest into what the Micron would ride, a motored unicycle. The legs converet into the large wheel, and the arms convert into engines (with the fingers as exhaust pipes). Micronus in robot mode can ride the vehicle. Cool. Micronus can also go back to disc form and plug onto the seat of the vehicle.

The armor parts can also be "worn" on other figures in the line with what seem to be now standard 5mm ports. The wheel becomes a shield, torso becomes a backpack, arms become cannons.

He shares a color scheme with fellow Prime Alchemist. They look good together.

I'm glad I found this in store, because I need the receipt to return an extra Fireflight I forgot to cancel at Pulse. They share the DPCI.

I’m gonna file this here. I received retro card Seaspray today from Walmart. Had to order in stock, will likely cancel my original preorder.

He’s annoying. There are two little panels on each side of his torso that keep popping out whenever I try to transform him. They don’t lock into the hinge, the clearance is too tight for how they’re supposed to unfold.

His conversion is surprisingly complex for what he is. Lots of folding and shifting. He gets pretty compact in hovercraft mode as a result.

This is supposed to be based on his G1 figure deco, but I’m having a hard time IDing the worthwhile differences. I don’t particularly want to buy this guy again for a more anime inspired deco.

Looking forward to Brawn even though there should be no surprises. I’m glad they gave him his G1 masked face. They should have done that with Bee.

Really hoping Powerglide doesn’t take forever to come out. And once SS86 Windcharger makes it out, Tailgate and Swerve aren’t far behind.

I thought they were just the toy heads vs. the cartoon heads?

Got Seaspray in and can confirm @NORM 's assessment on the side panels is correct. The whole torso seems unnecessarily complex. And the back end in alt form is all kibbly with a mostly exposed head. For how complicated he is I'd think the end result would be more polished.
