1/12 Diorama/Terrain/Props/Vehicles

There is also something some people do with acetone . I don’t think it’s dumping it in there, it’s more like putting it in a sealed container supended over acetone so the fumes smooth it out. I’ve never tried it though
This does work, though it isn't very precise, since you're chemically melting the thing with fumes. If you want to totally get rid of layer lines in a controlled way it pretty much has to be filler and sanding. Tried and true, but also very time consuming.

For me 3d printed stuff, unless it's done in resin where the artifacts are much less obvious, is always just going to stand out unless heavily post processed. There's a few folks out there who are good at minimizing the look because of the orientation and way they print stuff, and that looks alright to me, but it's not the usual etsy 3d print shop.

The good news is we're living in a positively golden age for props and dios for 1/12 scale stuff. I find new cool props and things every week. And 3d printing is getting better. It's far less chunky now than 5 yrs ago and I'm sure that trend will continue.

Got this custom foam rooftop (water tower was a different order from a different seller) from a creator in Poland this morning. Ordered it on 11/15, and took less than 10 days to make it to me via FedEx. While the "in stock' order I placed with the 4H on the same day hasn't even moved.

Any more photos of the water tower? Been thinking of making one

Ha, I've got that exact same foam rooftop (without the water tower). I actually bought it second hand from a local comic book store so had no idea that it might have been made overseas (or perhaps they just copied the same formula). That's wild!

Another BBTS find. This is technically a Gundam Hangar, which means for me it can pull double duty because I do have a Gundam or two in the collection. But it also works pretty well as a sort of scifi industrial elevator/containment unit/Iron Man armor storage. Here's the link if anyone else is interested: https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/295259

Another weird find, was in Target earlier this week and found one of these blind box things. Mini Brands Masterpieces. They're like $7 per box and come with 3 mini art pieces (mostly paintings), one art accessory (so far I've just gotten easels, but art transport crates and a painting palette are also possible) plus a mini magnifying glass. Basically 1/12-ish scale art pieces and similar accessories. They have a bunch of famous paintings (not all to scale with the actual pieces, but close enough for figure purposes) as well as meme versions of some (the catgirl with the pearl earing, etc.). The "paintings" are printed on a faux canvas paper that looks really good and they have little stretcher squares that seat into ornate frames. So if you wanted to make a very movie-accurate art heist dio they'd work really well. Or if you just need something that looks suitably posh to put on the wall behind Wilson Fisk, they'll do ya.

Also here's a reddit post with way more examples.

I didn't know they were available in the US yet. I had seen a UK YouTuber post about them because they were sent them by the company (back in November), but couldn't find any hint of them for sale anywhere in the US online at that point.

I'm going to grab a few of them.

The just slightly off ones have a very Nintentdo Switch Animal Crossing vibe. If you've played the game, you'll understand.

I just got a few duplicates so if you want Tahitian Women on the Beach (Gaugin), Sunflowers (Van Gogh), or Cafe Terrace at Night (Van Gogh) let me know. I can hook you up.

Thanks. I ordered 3 of the 2 packs from Amazon, so I'll see what I get.

I can always print out some images the size of any dupes I get and make my own.

I did see another YouTuber who got these give the frames a wash and some extra highlights which really set off the look.

Yeah I think I may give mine a wash or some metallic highlights. The frames really are quite nice. And it's cool that they have the whole stretcher bars underneath so you could have the pieces as though they were raw and still being worked on or as they would look in a museum. If you get any dupes you want to offload or trade I'd be happy to as well, especially if you happen to get any dupes of the Japanese prints.

I'll say the easels are a bit small for 1/12 scale. They feel a bit more in the 1/18 range, but then easels come in all sorts of sizes so they still sell.
