You Ever Get Tired of This?

This is exactly the same for me. Every once in a great while, I'll list something with a "if it doesn't sell, I'll keep it, but I need to get this much to part with it" price, but 99% of the time I research to see what the cheapest listing it then list for lower.
I can't even rely on eBay anymore. Or maybe I'm screwing myself. I was pricing some things just last night and it's telling me that the 20th anniversary Captain has gone loose for 60 to 80 Canadian, as example.

I've also seen the Doom Elite from McFarlane go for over $150 cuz apparently Canada got short-changed. I have one so I must have missed all that.

But maybe I'm just letting my own price limits blind me.

My son wanted that one for his little video game character shelf and I never saw one until they were popping up on eBay for 100 bucks and up. So... nope.
EB now has a different color variant but .. it's still 40 fucking dollars so maybe fuck off Todd.

I spent a few hours over the last 3 days going through some bins I brought home from storage to sort what's being kept and what to sell from them.

I've decided to trim my McFarlane Multiverse to certain Bat family, Flash family and Superman family figures, along with the few GLs I have, and a couple JLA members (Manhunter, Booster and Blue Beetle, and a few others.
I'm trimming my SWB down to MY iconic versions of the main cast, Vader, Storm Troopers and my Mandolorian crew.

I still have to set up a spot to photograph it all and figure out WHERE I'm going to try selling it, but, progress.

A good Boxing Day tradition that even us peasants can participate in... if you have the day off after Christmas and nothing to do, box up anything worth donating, trash or recycle what's worth trashing, and put up for sale what's better off selling, and donate the money to a charity of choice. For me, there will be some figure purge, but also a lot of books and comics that quite frankly I'm not going to read again, and old clothes that quite frankly I'm not going to fit in again 😅

Spring cleaning with the Christmas spirit.

We actually had a really hard time this year with donating anything used. Whether through actual charities or even just on FB groups designed for re-homing stuff. Everyone has gotten very picky about things needing to be in their original packaging/unused.

At times this gets to be very exhausting but it’s the trajectory more than the hunt itself that bothers me. Toy collecting has now become such a booming business model that it feels like I’m constantly going from one site to the next to buy up figures with increasing frequency. Not sure how much longer I can keep this up. On the other hand, I’ve been fascinated by toys since I was little and I never stopped buying toys. So if I did stop now after 40 years of this, I’m worried I might just wilt away like a hothouse flower.

I went so hard on these the first few years. Now Captain Carrot us the only one I own.

Wasn't sure where else to post this, but it actually made me somewhat appreciative the more I thought about it.

I shipped my loot from BBTS- only about 4 things, but still. I've always had my POL ship together, no matter how many things are in it, big or small. But this time they broke it up into 3 separate shipments for some reason. At first I had a first world problem moment where I was annoyed at having to wait a little longer for one of them, but the more I thought about it, I think it could help me appreciate each one a little more. As much as I love those "christmas morning" type days where I get a shipment of a lot of stuff, I do think one or two items tend to get lost in the fray and forgotten about/underappreciated, so if this helps me like everything more (and also help sink in just how much I've bought), then that's cool.

I don't really do resolutions anymore, but one of the things I'd like to try and work on this year, aside from just general downsizing, is to appreciate all my stuff a little more. I definitely take some things for granted, and this could be a simple little first step. We'll see how I fare by, like, mid-year. I could be right back to my ungrateful American ways, but Imma give it a try!

You wont miss the stuff, only the dopamine hit from retail therapy. After that comes the "oh I have money now" realization and you'll need to curb your impulse to spend all that money you saved by not spending money in the first place.

If I get a shipment with multiple figures, I only open one a day. It hasn’t cured me of the “mehs” yet. Neither has significantly cutting back on my purchases, but I remain hopeful that I’ll get my mojo back. I’m waiting to see what happens when the McFarlane Zatanna arrives and the irresistible force (my love for Zatanna) meets the immovable object (my action figure doldrums).

Honestly, we'd ALL buy less stuff if we appreciated the stuff we have a little more. You won't ever convince me otherwise.
