TBF, a real question here is how many fans saw that warning? I think the vast majority don't tune in at all until the announcement comes. For those folks this is just a break in the pattern, a dashed expectation with no real thought behind it.

I doubt it's intended to be malicious, why would it be, but it is a real miss at reading the room. I do suspect it'll hurt sales of this one.

It was on purpose though. They had the word PRESENT in all caps. They wanted people to think it was the ghost.

They really are the best toy company at shooting themselves in the dick, aren't they? Guys, you trolled your own customers. You're idiots to do that. Yes, you warned folks weeks ago you were doing something different this year, but come up with a Nutcracker joke, a "we're doing to PIROUETTE into a new theme!" "We promise this year's holiday theme won't be CHEESY" "We're SQUEAKING our new announcement in right after Thanksgiving!" Don't be dicks and people will be less mad.

As with almost all of their wildest offerings, I actually really like the base figure. I want this one for a mouse warrior. I'll never display it with the heads all popping out the top, I'm not into the horror of that. Not the Skaven-esque raging rat face but I really like the mouse with the scar across his face - I could see keeping him out on the shelf year 'round. I bought one, I'm that into it! But man, these guys deserve the ration of shit they're getting for being antagonistic about it. As others have said, you're artists, you get bored, you want to do other things. Hell, I get people asking me for more books in a series I FINISHED every couple of days, being pressured to do more of the same is super boring. But just graciously say "we're listening" and then do something for yourself, it's that easy. Don't be dumbasses, dudes. People love your work, enjoy it.

There’s no denying it’s quite cool as a piece. But that’s a good point about the vast majority of folks not knowing they said whatever they did regarding the break in the Christmas/holiday season offering.

Their use of caps and lowercase has always been... chaotic at best. A company in dire need of a freelance copyeditor they actually listen to.

It's funny, I'm legitimately psyched to have a brave mouse warrior for the shelf I can Christmas up for part of the year. But I also get why people are frustrated. Nobody wants to spend a decade collecting a cast of 3-5 characters.

I want it so much.

The little black bag with the secret accessory seems head-sized so I’m going to guess it’s a mouse skull head. That gives the turpiculi another monstrosity head option.

I don't need this Mouse King, but if they did release a Nutcracker, I'd probably get it as he's the title character. Could get away with having just him. This Mouse King stunt just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I'll take the $70+ I was planning on dropping on the Ghost of Christmas Present this morning and pick up a couple of FMF Santas I've had in my cart and been wanting for a while.

I'm not saying I won't pick this figure up at some point, but the urgency is not there for me. If it sells out, all the better.

I agree with all who have said the apparent troll job is what strikes me as so distasteful. They’re just toys and it makes little sense to get too worked up over it, but it doesn’t make me want to run out and buy 4H products. It’s especially frustrating because it’s one release a year. If they don’t want to continue the line this year - fine, but send out a newsletter saying that. Don’t deliberately go out of your way to piss off your customers. That’s just stupid.

Super shitty. Now next year if we don't get the Ghost of Christmas Present, people will be upset. And if we don't get a nutcracker, other people could be upset. It would feel weird to only do the mouse king imo.
