Skurge the Executioner BAF Wave

A very nice person (And a true gentleman) is going to mail me the Skurge BAF piece that comes with the green meanie. I should receive it sometime this week. As far as I'm concerned this issue is now put to rest.

The minute I took Warbow out of packaging the handle on his crossbow snapped off. Lovely.

I reglued it, because it broke where the two pieces connect, but it’s irritating nonetheless.

Just got the last two figures and put Skurge together. He does look great - the face is so much more expressive and interesting than I expected.
Very weird wave overall. Enchantress is a nice upgrade; WWBN and Phantom Rider are nice first-timers but aren't flashy at all; Warbow is SO strange, but much like Crystar, I can't stop messing with him. He's just a COOL figure. Ai-Apaec finishes a team which is nice. And really, this new Iron Man just convinces me I need to divest myself of some Tonys. I like the character but nothing really thrills me with him anymore.

I found myself thinking if this were like my first or second Iron Man, he's actually really nicely done! But that hall of armor is so full these days. (I should feel the same way about Logan but I feel like the WWII look really does do something different from previous iterations, compared to say the animated looks that came out earlier this year.)

Well, yesterday I received the three I preordered (WbN, PR, and Amora). Phantom Rider is surprisingly the winner of the batch. In addition to being a sexy mf, he's a solid build that functions very well.
While Enchantress absolutely looks amazing, she suffers from the high-heels blues just like her previous iteration. Plus her arms feel loose and flimsy at the deltoid/bicep junction yet the complete opposite at the elbows. Still a win. Love the metallic paint details and the new magic effect.
And then there's my good boy Jack, whose left arm has a completely seized-up shoulder, and immediately sheered off at the deltoid/bicep. I've read other members mentioning the wonky join at that point and was even trying to be gentle. Both arms suffer from crappy engineering there. Why you gotta do us dirty like that Hasbro.
Anyway, he's still wolf-a-riffic and I eagerly await my (hopefully functional) Amazon replacement which should be here by Saturday. In the meantime, I have taken this opportunity to fine-tune the headsculpt and tighten up the paint on his teeth. I just finished shaving a little excess fur from his chin and lower jawline and IMO he already looks much better. I'll post some shots once I get him all together this weekend.

I've noticed the same thing about Amora, @Lucid Silverback. Strangely loose shoulders, small bicep peg, tight double elbows. Feels like I could break her at the bicep swivel trying to bend the elbows. Heat can obviously help, but do we need to resort to that every time? It really feels like her engineering is flawed.

EB Games shipped out the Iron Man, Wolverine, Warbow and Werewolf By Night.

Iron Man is a fine figure - improving on similar odd armor choices in the past with strong articulation, especially at the ankles. There would barely be any mobility in previous releases which had armor around the ankle. So, while that's nice to see - this is a very boring Iron Man armor and release. Not sure who was clamoring for it, and I'd rather the effort of a brand new sculpt go into something like this:

340

Wolverine is a nice figure with a healthy amount of accessories. Honestly, I hadn't paid much attention to the pre-order and didn't realize he come with a satchel bag. The alternate head is a bit too purdy anime for Wolverine, and I can't see myself using it. This release also makes the Werewolf by Night a bit of a head scratcher since it features some re-use but zero accessories. Considering it costs the same as Wolverine (or a GI Joe Classified) it's getting to be pretty inexcusable to not include at least some hand options and a more neutral head. Like, why cost out a bag for Wolverine over some decent options for Werewolf if people are asked to pay the price for both. Hasbro really does need to address this... in addition to holding back single carded releases of "ideal" versions of characters.

Warbow is... whatever. His bow didn't break. Silver lining.

Can't wait to build Executioner.

I wasn’t asking for it, but I’m loving Mysterium Armor Iron Man. Really fun to get an Iron Man armor on figure form while it is still relevant in the Avengers comics!

I just bought Phantom Rider at Gamestop while on my lunch break. Basic, simple figure and most importantly the first western hero in the line after all these friggin' years. He does everything I need him to do and looks cool doing it. Instantly goes in my top ten for the year especially since he is a western character! That alone would qualify him for my top ten of the year list! Bring on the western heroes!

Something about Phantom Rider has been bothering me. I can't shake the feeling that he's a terrible figure even though I don't own him and he's on a decent base body.

I finally figured it out. He reminds me too much of Fantomex. Hasbro had two at-bats with Fantomex and struck out swinging.

Obviously, Skurge and Amora are this wave’s winners for me, but I concur with the Phantom Rider appreciation. I love Marvel’s Old West Heroes, and he’s always been among my specific favorites. Plus, not only is he the first of that genre in the line, but he also starts The Rangers. And I LOVE The Rangers. C’mon, Texas Twister!
