NECA - General Thread

Exactly, they could do the antartic version with a removable hood and long hair head, dinamite, etc., and the newborn look with chains and such. Plus do a more general Victor with rifle, books, instruments. And that angel of death.

I mean they've done more with lesser stuff, so I really think they should do figures for the movie. And maybe they will.

I mean, I'd gladly take both of them; I have no real preference on which comes first. But we gotta get a fig of Orlok hangin' dong (the Orcock, if you will). If anyone company feels crazy enough to do it, it's NECA. I was stiffed (get it?) out of a fully accurate Dr. Manhattan figure, I ain't gonna let the same mistake happen twice!

Oh, and make that sexy mustache soft goods too. Hell yeah.

I wish they would at least get us mom and the other 2 kids. Gandama would be icing on the cake, but getting the other 3 core family would make it feel "complete" to me.

One of their painters, Mike, recently said in an interview that they let the license lapse.
It's one of those things where I understand why they would. But I also don't understand only offered what they did. Like a self-fulfilling prophecy?

If people don't know they can complete it in a timely manner. They're not going to be into it.

Is there any way to avoid this from happening? I understand a company's reluctace to invest so much into a line without some evidence figures will sell. But, you're right, that probably leads to reduced sales due to some people holding out. I guess pre-orders help address this issue, but probably not for lines looking for box store numbers. Maybe including all the characters on packaging? Like DST did with Pepe on their Muppets line.

To be honest, this is NECA's MO.

Turtles are the exception, for sure. If they announce that they've gotten a license, fully expect the main or most popular characters, and that's it. So many series left incomplete.

Case in point, The Munsters? I would not expect Lily, Eddie, certainly not Marilyn. If they do, I'd be very surprised. But, I think this will be it. MAYBE Lily. Maybe.

The moment they showed Earl and Baby, and that was all they showed, I knew that the line was done for. I knew from the onset. Because this is what they do, again, Turtles being the exception.

You can add Gargoyles as an exception too. I’m a little surprised they got the main cast out given how some of their other lines have gone. I’ve always thought toy companies would do better if they at least showed prototypes of a somewhat complete collection. Sure, release Earl and Baby first, but at least have Fran, Charlene, and Robby prototypes there for the unveiling. I think collectors would be a lot more willing to go in if they could at least see that the line has a vision.

I think you have to take the risk and do a wave with just enough to show intent and make the cherry pickers happy.

Hypothetical Futurama, don't drop Bender, then Fry.

Drop Bender, Fry, and Zoidberg. Fan favourites, and there are those who want to complete, and those who would be happy with Bender or Zoidberg. Then follow up with Leela and Amy or whatever.

They did it themselves with Gargoyles.

Might just be me, but opening with Baby was weird. Then a gap to Earl. And the redux Earl signaled to me that was the end, since they were already double dipping a mold with nothing new on the horizon.

Technically TRIPLE DIPPED on Earl, since he also got the "superhero" con version as well.

I worry about NECA's Munsters for the same reason. The fact they dropped Herman and Grandpa first is not a good sign. Had they done Herman and Eddie first, it would bode better for the line. I REALLY hope we at least get the core family, as I certainly don't think we'll see deep cuts like Uncle Gilbert or Lester. I'm going to hold on to the DST figures for the time being, for sure.
