Operation Monster Force

There's definitely a bell curve of figure prices with how big the company making them is. Small indie companies don't produce the volume of bigger companies and make less return per figure, whereas giant companies have way more employees to pay, both of which end up with higher prices.

Those middle companies like Jazwares, Jakks, even MacFarlane always feels like you can get the most bang for your buck.
Oh 100%. I used to bang the 'they're a smaller business so stuff costs more' drum all the time with BFS. I just thought you were saying FMF were making cheaper figures than Joes, which is obviously not true so I was a bit confused what you were saying exactly.

I guess the other issue I have is if anyone else is also like me and piecemeals a lot of their collections--a figure here and there in lines--these will be long sold out. So, these are all going to hit and if you're a completionist, you're SOL.

Yeah part of the issue is that you have to buy it immediately.

With legends and classified, you can spread things out a bit. Grab the hot items and pace out the other stuff.

I was a big fan of monster force at the beginning but this line relies so much on army building at an expensive pricepoint and a very limited window to actually buy them.

Still no idea why their Soldiers of fortune line isn’t priced closed to a classified or action force

I only found the line during the summer and was picking away at stuff, didn't have the long tail of investment, but I definitely was looking at expected release dates and thinking "so... all the waves are third-quarter 2025?" I played it cautiously (like I said, I bought ONE more figure than I'm happy about getting charged for at the same time, I'm fine) but I do know if they'd spread them out I probably would have another half-dozen figures from the various compatible lines preordered. I do feel bad for anyone who preordered a wave, then another wave, then a third wave, and then they all shipped at once. But also man, getting ANYTHING out of China right now... I back a lot of boardgame and TTRPG kickstarters and four or five are shipping at the same time and I swear it's that they all got on a ship at the right point in the tariff war. (But y'know, Kickstarter, money's way, way long gone, that's past Doc's problem, not present Doc's.)

I also am currently begging Hasbro to stop punishing my enthusiasm by releasing three months of figures early, but that's become a time honored tradition with Hasbro, those fall/winter preorders always are like "oh yeah? Fuck your Christmas budget, dude!"

Man I hate to say it but as much as I CANNOT STAND Four Horsemen getting a three-year interest free loan with their preorders, I legit just DNGAF when they decide to ship. Money's gone, man! Ship that dragon in 2032 or whatever, you already billed me. Although lately it's "fuck where do I PUT everything" with them. The money's gone on the dragon, Those regrets are in a different folder from "where do I put him."

I think it’s worth noting Monster Force isn’t exactly little ol Fresh Monkey Fiction anymore. It’s essentially BBTS which while a small player still should understand how toy customers make purchases and when product is coming in.

Hopefully that can lead to more consistency. That is a somewhat newer turn of events, I believe this is the first batch of figures we've gotten since that happened.

I mean guys, this is a company that has a whole line dedicated to Christmas, which regularly ships out in January and February well after their hard target date of December. I love those Santa's and what FMF is doing, but it's very hard pressed to find a small company that delivers on their original expected date. Even the 4H, who have been at this for years and years, have huge delays on their Mythic Legions stuff.

BBTS can seemingly warehouse an infinite supply of Super7 ultimates lol I think they could have spread out when these hit or even put these out at a later time
I'd be so mad if I found out BBTS was intentionally delaying shipping my pre-orders.

I'm not a completist, but I'm way more into OMF than it sounds like most of you are. I've been really looking forward to Wave 2 and am super-stoked they've finally arrived.

I mean I was super into monster force, until it kinda burned itself out with endless repaints and limited creativity.

Please keep telling me more about how Monster Force sucks. I'm waffling on cancelling my preorders and you are pushing me towards the cancel choice. I need convincing.

That's fair. It's just a weirder version of Action Force in that regard.

For me, the weird is enough, but that's for sure a personal taste.

I heard Monster Force starts crowding the boarding gate before the airline calls their numbers.
