McFarlane DC Multiverse

Giving the McF all their due - the new HS on Diana is fantastic. Not enough to make me buy her on that old ass body and the Godzilla I have no need for.

It does look really good, but I passed myself since I’m sure eBay will be full of unwanted Gdzillas. Probably the same cost to pay $30-$40 for a custom WW head sculpt without the hassle of selling old junk.

Looks like pricing is up for the Drawing Board Harley- $30 for the base figure, $35 for tier 2, $50 for Joker and Harley, and $70 for all. Goal is $250,000. Not too bad, all things considered. I was expecting worse. $50 for Joker and Harley ain't bad, since Harley herself is $30. I may actually spring for it.

Having not backed the Batmobile, is there an unlimited amount of people who can buy each tier, or a preset amount that'll sell out? How important is it that I back right away?

I was expecting way worse. I’m not buying this anyway. Live action just doesn’t appear on my radar.

However, at 70 bucks top end, there’s quite a lot I would buy were it offered. Comic accurate obviously. Something outside of the Bat sphere of influence would be preferred.

Hawk and both Doves.

Golden Age Atom in both costumes along with Cyclotron (look it up) 😎.

Johnny Quick, Liberty Belle, and Jesse Quick.

I could go on but won’t. You get the idea.

I wanted the classic Wonder Woman, but she sold out before I had the chance. I was like, "okay, Todd will likely do her modern look, so I'm cool with that since I have a classic in 1/12". Then Todd goes and sticks THAT figure in an overpriced package with a Godzilla statue. I have plenty of cool, articulated Gojis, so I don't need this one, and I'm not paying that kind of money just to have a Wonder Woman for my fairly small 1/10 collection. This is furthering my resolve that I'm probably not buying any more of Todd's DC stuff, and I'll likely be unloading the ones I have. No sense in having a 1/10 Justice League if I don't have a key member of the team. I know Todd couldn't care less, but I can't fathom his reasoning. By making such a character so hard to get, it just leads to people like me not buying other figures in the line.

Seems like Harley is off to a good start. Page doesn't load for me every time, but last I checked, 58 backers, with over $5,000 raised- a little over 2% of the goal- in less than 10 minutes. Most folks seem to be going for the highest tier. We'll see if it's able to sustain that momentum. Lower price point means, in theory, more backers are needed to hit the goal.

Does Ayer's Suicide Squad have the Snyderverse fanboys behind it too? They were a big boost for the Batmobile, obviously, but I don't know if their love extends to non-Snyder projects.

Really makes you wonder how they come up with the pricing at all. Base Harley is arguably a collector's edition figure, give or take (just a poster and tattoos in place of extra hands, etc.), but is less expensive than them, even factoring in likeness rights.

The missus and I both went for the highest tier, so 2 contributions there are ours. There are 5 people on this planet who liked Suicide Squad, and we're 2 of them lol It's not particularly well-made, but it's fun and I'm happy to have some representation of it for the movie shelf in this scale. I would have preferred a smiling head for this Joker, but I still think everything looks good, here.

Yeah Harley is quite reasonable. I’ll definitely put in for her and Letoker.

In other movie toy news, I was directed to the “collectors club” section on McF website and I guess I have thousands of points? And on a list of “free except for shipping if you have the points” stuff was, holy shit, the Joker: Live with Murray Franklin set, so I got it for less than $10. Amazing.

I enjoy it as a guilty pleasure movie. Is it good? Ehhhh. Not really, especially when compared to Gunn's Suicide Squad. But it's a cheesy, flashy, colorful Frankenstein monster of a movie.

I'd definitely have preferred either the shirtless Joker or purple pimp Joker, but I get that the tux is re-use to keep the cost down. It's not the end of the world. I wish he had a smiling head too- well, I wish he had anything. I guess you could give him the purple gun, but he doesn't come with swappable hands or anything, so who knows how easy it'll be to hold it. If it funds, I may try and track down a machine gun I can paint gold and white.

Wow, that pricing on Harley is quite reasonable, but still just not something that I'm interested in.

The movie was fine. I still have all of the figures that Mattel did for that movie, even a con exclusive flocked Panda Man that came with a Jared Leto Joker. I still have the Diablo, Panda Man and Rick Flag Jr figures in my Mattel DC display.

Harley Drawing Board

Here ya go, friend!

Sometimes I have to refresh the page a time or two before it'll actually load, though. So keep trying.
Thanks!

That's actually quite a good deal, and the figures themselves look nice.

Is the Classic Harley an outfit she actually wears/has worn in the comics? More of a Modern Harley, but just realized she's grayscale. One step forward, four steps back.

I legitimately enjoy the first SS movie, especially the extended cut. Not theee best superhero film of all time, but fun and refreshing, especially at the time when villains were just not getting any real traction in comic book films.
