EDIT: Just saw them in my email. Destro is not specifically Iron Grenadier. His face is still silver, he's just wearing something more formal than his low cut cobra collar. I will definitely pick up Big Lob and Pythona, but I never had a Tunnel Rat, so I'm gonna have to hunt him down. Destro is a maybe, but I'll likely pass on Snake Eyes as I passed on arctic gear CoCo from a previous wave.

Yeah, looking at the pics of both I hope that isn't the direction they go. Classic IG Destro is iconic, and I'd rather a white and blue Snake Eyes color-thematic like Desert was than just Snake Eyes in a Coat.
 
Yeah... that was my mistake. Destro is listed as 'Arctic Destro' and is not IG. I thought IG Destro sported that trench coat with the red collar, bit he didn't.
 
Well Walmart Canada (well I guess the one local one I went to today) seems to be slightly partaking in the special display thing you guys are seeing in the US.

I found a little display hanger thing at the end of one aisle this morning. Near the back, close to the Legos. It had a title banner along the top with Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series and GI Joe Classified logos. Unfortunately it wasn't stocked like the displays in the US. However it did have, mostly, new stuff for Canada. There was just more MCU Spidey and Iron Man (in the blue boxes). However they did have the Magna Guard, Aayla Secura wave of the movie cardback and the Snake Eyes V4, Monkeywrench wave.

The good thing outside of getting Monkeywrench and BA:CC, is that this is the first time is a long time that I have seen actual Classified product on the shelves at Walmart. Not counting the odds and ends of old stuff that never sold (looking at you Copperhead). So maybe Canada will see more product on shelves going into the holiday season.
 
So I went into Pulse to order the Gamerverse Punisher/Nick Fury set, and noticed on their front page that they're making a limited edition card back for Classified retro Flint. Only 82 cards will exist with this alternate artwork (that is by a named artist, rather than the questionably AI card art of the regular release. Can I admit that they pulled me in for this? A friggin chase card. I ordered one, let's see what I get.
 
Wow...that is an interesting development I am shocked McFarlane didnt come up with first. Highly Limited collectible packaging.

Honestly I am super down for that as a gimmick. As someone who doesn't keep any figure carded or packaged the variant is meaningless to me, but it is a way to inject some of that 'hyper collectible' element into the game that doesn't impact people like me who just want the figure.
 
IG Destro is the Super Saiyan form of Destro. I mean, you can't really get any better than that. Should they wait before releasing that one and release a few other versions before that one?

That is an interesting thing to do but it is not a good thing for collectors. Now we are going to have super limited editions that they don't even bother to advertise? So if you are lucky enough to be online when it drops you might be able to order one of 82? Really just 82? Can't wait to see what the ridiculous aftermarket price is going to be for this version.

Not really liking this idea from Hasbro. It's interesting, but I don't like it.

I read the blurb more closely and it seems like Hasbro is playing a little fast and loose with people ordering this. I'm fairly certain the 82 people who ordered this version will get it. However the wording makes it a bit vague about actually getting it versus being surprised with getting it. Just be specific and stop with the word nonsense Hasbro.

I will say the variant art is miles better than the standard version. However I'm not sure I like the stubble look for Flint. I kind of think of him as clean cut like Duke.

Yeah... just went and looked at that limited card art and it is universes better than the retail release. So much better its kind of criminal they didnt use it all along.
 
Y'know, I don't care if they do this as long as it's just a collector thing and not a gatekeeping thing. As long as the FIGURE ITSELF is easy to get? sure, make under 100 versions of the card. Mine usually end up recycled anyway. Though specifically with Flint I am now wondering if they got bamboozled by AI art and are being weird about it. Though neither of the cards looks like the Flint in my head.
