Extremis Iron Man and Mandarin Two-Pack

So all this talk that has us collectively gushing over this new Iron Man unlocked a memory in my brain, but does anyone else recall seeing that custom extremis iron man figure that was produced about a year ago that had working LED lights in the torso, helmet and hands? I might want to get in touch with that customizer and see if he’s interested in applying the same mods to this updated extremis IM

This one? https://6inchplus.com/products/extremis-suit-upgrade-kitbash-set

Same guy who is officially producing the "Green Scar" aka Planet/World War Hulk set.

I almost bought it multiple times and talked myself out of it (I remember it being way more than $40, too - closer to $75 I thought). I'm glad now I held off since they released the new version. What don't you like about it?

The 6 Inch+ kit really doesn't improve the articulation as much as I would have liked it to, or even as much as may it should have with the articulation in the torso and waist. While It was an improvement over the first Puff Adder Wave release, with Hasbro's own update they have far surpassed the upgrade kit. The sculpt of the torso itself it's nice. I don't think he quite nailed the Extremis helmet sculpt though, but to be fair neither did Hasbro in my opinion. I just don't mind it so much on the 2 pack version becasue the figure is just so god damn fun. The lights in the upgrade set are also very frustrating to work. They're controlled by a magnetic switch. Mine randomly turned on one day and I couldn't turn it off and the LED has since burned out. There's a lot of other people who have run into this, as well.

The real highlight of the set is the head sculpt with removeable magnetic faceplate that has a Tony Stark Sculpt in the helmet. That head sculpt came out quite nice and if there was a release of just that head for this new body, I would for sure buy that.

Saw someone stick the Mandarin heads on Trevor's/MCU Fake Mandarin's body. Randomly I've actually got an extra one somehow so I just tried it out. The skin tones do NOT match, but in the right lighting, it works fine (the neck is darker but the hair / shadows cover it up okay). The hood on the jacket/robe screws up head articulation though, and Trevor has no ab crunch, so I can't say I fully recommend it, but if you're looking for a cheap way to use the second Mandarin head, it's an okay option. He's even wearing all the rings already!

I think I'ma get it next week when I get paid. I don't care for this version of Mandarin but I want the Iron Man. Ill figure a way to make Mandarin work, even if it is a different body.

I wondered if anyone has seen any pictures posted of the new extremis armor with a matt coat applied?

It always came across as a bit less shiny in the comics than the other armors, but was just curious how it would look with this shade of red/gold (I've seen it done on the previous version and it looked pretty nice).

I think it depends on deco there.. The original Puff Adder Wave version with the more maroon red definitely felt like a matte would be more appropriate. I think the brighter red can go either way.
