I think this set could use its own thread, even if half of the set doesn't deserve it. Lemme talk about this Extremis figure.
Plenty of upgrades on this figure, but some I hadn't seen mentioned. Yes, there's a lower ab crunch that increases the torso range of motion a lot, in combination with a mid torso pivot, probably ball and socket style. I'm not sure why Iron Man would need this kind of flexibility, but it's there! I'll never pose him arching his back as far as this goes, though the hunch may come in handy. Resilient's photos illustrate this well. And he made another comment about how this range still seems blocked by something, still not giving the crunch the full range it could have. I think it's got to do with the detents in the abs. It's not clearing as far front or back as it could go. I have no intention of dissecting the figure to find out though.
Butterfly joints have been added. But they're not the standard. They're the new ones that Gamerverse Wolverine also has, similarly gyroscopic like McFarlane DC shoulder joints. These move like a joystick, all the way around the shoulder socket, not just front-back motion. Nice touch.
He has a lower neck pivot, again, probably ball/socket set up, leading to a neck hinge with a ball peg. Best range of motion for a neck that ML can do. Much better than a barbell at the top of the neck.
Everything else is the same as the previous Extremis figure. I've already donated the unhelmeted Stark head to one of the old Extremis figures and it looks great. Just wish the black was gold instead.
Mandarin isn't worth talking about much. I did try his parts on both MCU Baron Mordo figures and it's nothing to write home about. Black suit stays.
If you love Extremis, move on this set. I predict a sell out.
