Extremis Iron Man and Mandarin Two-Pack

A new Iron Patriot on this body is a good call. Shame that they just did him last year.

I absolutely want a new Hood, but I'm not sure what Hasbro could do to make him worth it - unless they're willing to delve into wired soft goods.

I mean they can start by doing a better head sculpt and more appropriate color scheme for his clothes. Then if they really wanted to impress us they could do swappable demon part.

Oh yeah for sure, the whole figure was a disaster from top to bottom. Easily one of the worst contemporary Hasbro Legends, and probably cracking my top 10 worst of all-time. But even with a proper/accurate base body he'll still be hampered by a big static cloak. Swappable demon parts would be cool. Multiple capes a la GSXM Storm is probably the best we could hope for with the cloak - one at rest, one in motion so he can actually lift his arms to shoot.

I'm still expecting ML to debut wired soft goods eventually now that McF has started incorporating them. It's one of the innovations - done well - that I'd be happiest to pay for, considering how much they enhance a figure and the going rates for 3rd-party options.

Hasbro, and just about everyone else reading comics or collecting Legends knows, this is THE definitive armor of the modern comics era. Frankly, the original release wasn't even a passable release. It's was a straight up bad figure due to it's limited torso articulation, from only a couple years ago, the only real redeeming feature of it being it's deco that emulated Granov's cover art pretty damn well. This new one is just capable of SO MUCH more. I'll share the crunch comparison for everyone here so you guys get the sense of what I'm talking about here. And the crazy part is the ab crunch on mine doesn't stop here because it can't go further, but rather because the joint feels like it's stuck. There's room for this crunch to essentially fold him in half.

I somehow skipped over this post. The improved range is pretty incredible.
 
And if the 2 pack goes on sale I'll probably grab one or 2 more and try (key word try) to offload some Mandarins

Based on what we know about 2026 so far there's a very real opportunity for Hasbro to do a wired cape soon.

And agreed. I love the original Extremis figure already even if there were some aspects that could be improved.

Yeah exactly. A softer plastic cape (or soft goods). Maybe 3 heads—head permanently in the hood, unhooded, and a demonic head. That would make for a nice upgrade. Basically any new head sculpt would be an improvement.

So is the Mandarin unwanted enough that this 2pk will get discounted? Or is the Extremis Iron Man so good that it won't drop in price, or even sell out? I'd like to get multiples of Iron Man, and can always use multiples of suit bodies. But I'd prefer to wait for a sale. Also, I think waiting too long will allow many to swap in the old Extremis and return the set.

I'm betting on a sale around Christmas. Most don't care for this version of Mandarin and spending $50 for an Iron Man most already have minus the slight upgrades... worth the wait risk for me.
 
I would not be surprised if as an unintended consequence from the popularity of this Iron Man two pack, the “Model 20” and the Infinity Saga Mark 3 armor figures started selling out like hot cakes since there is a direct through line between these 3 armors since they all took inspiration from one another.

The swap fear for me is very real. I think that 2 for me of he new two-pack will be a good start. Realistically, with this new release I probably won't use any of the original for much... and I have... perhaps too many of those. A lesson was learned. I believe I'll be happy to get 3, offloading one of the Mandarins... which means I'll wait for a sale on the 3rd and hope that I don't get a swapper.
