Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

Nice. I wanna play!
  1. Loki
  2. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
  3. Daredevil: Born Again
  4. Ms. Marvel
  5. Agatha All Along
  6. Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special
  7. WandaVision
  8. Moon Knight
  9. Hawkeye
  10. Echo
  11. Werewolf by Night
  12. Ironheart
  13. The Falcon & the Winter Soldier
  14. Secret Invasion

Looking at Hi-Fi's live-action list, I've enjoyed the majority of shows on some level — with the exception of Secret Invasion, which was hot garbage. Ms. Marvel, Echo and Ironheart all exceeded my low expectations going in.

My top 5 right now:
1. Werewolf By Night
2. Moon Knight
3. She-Hulk
4. Loki
5. Hawkeye — tough call between this and Daredevil, but thinking about it, DD wouldn't be high on the list at all if Punisher hadn't shown up.

Oh ha ha I didn’t mean my D+ hierarchy was 1) WWBN 2) She-Hulk 3) AAA, I meant my all-inclusive MCU top 3 is those things, movies included.
And two of my movies-specific Top 3 came out this year.

FATWS opens really fun; the buddy dynamics, the therapy. All the Isiah Bradley stuff is good. The middle part with the flag smashers is a mess. Just blocking wise. Where are they? Why are they there? Why are they fighting and the fight breaks off b/c they are just in another room. Covid victim.

Agreed. I did like the Walker stuff too, but I wonder if you swipe the Bradley stuff from the movie and work it into a draft of FATWS, and probably actually rework the flag smasher stuff better, if that could be a great show.

Falcon & Winter Soldier is one of my favorite of the Marvel shows, yet I really do agree I wanted more Bradley. I would've happily traded in the "guy who saved the world can't get a boat loan" plotline for more time with him.

I don't have them all ranked, but I'll say that F+WS, WandaVision, and Agatha are my favorites while Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel are very watchable despite their flaws. Meanwhile I couldn't even finish She-Hulk, Moon Knight or Loki.

In spite of CoVid's shadow, for me, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has had the most emotional impact/resonance by far for multiple characters of any of the shows I've watched--even if it was the most straight forward of the stories (maybe because of that fact) and had a weak-ass baddie and actress. I was really looking forward to Walker being brought into the MCU and loved how they handled him. The pleasant surprise was Ayo moving from a background player who just looked bad-ass to an actual character who pushes the story forward. Also, I can't say enough about that score and how brilliantly Jackman brought back and repurposed his themes and motifs from his prior MCU work. I was so disappointed they didn't get Jackman for Brave New World.

Wandavision is my second favorite. I got tired of the story structure of the episodes and narrative device of the overall season early and found it irritating by the Malcom in the Middle episode. I went so far as to re-edit the show for myself and make it much more palatable--it was surprisingly easy with this show. Still, the show had some great moments and even got my woman to finally like Wanda and Vision. :D

↓↓ She-Hulk I liked and found amusing, but each time I re-watched the series with different women I appreciated it more. With Loki, I didn't like the 1st season except for the finale, but really liked the 2nd. For Agatha All Along I felt the tone wavered a bit too far from the 1st ep, which I loved. I really liked the 2nd, and thought the 3rd was good. The middle 3 either felt repetitive, weak or boring. My recollection is the final 2 or 3 were a rebound to decent again. Really like Wiccan's casting and character whom I wasn't familiar with from the comics at all.

↓ Moon Knight I was most looking forward to of any Disney Marvel show announced so far. Story was meh. Not enough of the title character. Far goofier than I would want for this character/show.

↓↓ Hawkeye: the positive was it had Farmiga. Secret Invasion: the positive was it had McDonald (whom I haven't seen in a couple of decades). Otherwise, both forgettable.

Have no interest in Ms Marvel, Echo or Ironheart.

Looking forward to Wonder Man and Vision. Waiting for the 2nd half of Daredevil before I binge them all.

@Felonious Monk, that's...yeah. Basically yeah.

I think a lot of these shows suffer from weak villains or villain let-down at the end.

The Flagsmashers, fer instance, were ill-defined despite the show trying for the whole "good people on both sides" bit. But since they really only existed to give Sam and Walker something to be rivals over, it doesn't bring the show down too much.

Ms. Marvel had the absolute worst villains and plot, but somehow survives entirely in the charm of the lead actor.

The Hood fizzled at the end. She-Hulk's villain never existed (I guess), Hawkeye fought an entire joke mob, and Wanda just kind of walked away like it was somebody else's fault.

I think the only good villain across D+ is Renslayer.

I keep forgetting Secret Invasion was even a thing, to be honest. Every now and then I'll see a Gravik Funko Pop or Legends Fury from it and remember "Oh yeah- that happened". I really hope we see Olivia Colman's character again, because for someone of her caliber to be wasted on such a show would be criminal. She was the only good part about that show in my opinion (though Samuel L Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn are always reliable), and seeing her go up against Val could give us snark for the ages.

I completely forgot Secret Invasion even existed when I made my list.

And I wish Marvel would, too, and bring Maria back. Awful show, worse idea.
