X-Men '97

I get this, but this line is for X-Men '97 and this line-up completes the team*. Roberto I would count as a new character and all of them are new to this line.

I would never prefer Narissa before a correct and matching Jubilee, or the stupid evil spider/eagle thing over Emma. They can come later!

*Beast is, of course, still MIA, even from the updated packaging. Really hope they announce him on cardback as well.
Point taken. Robert would be new to the X-Men '97 line, but not to the Legends line overall of course.

But Emma for example didn't really have any more meaningful screen time in the show (so far) than a number of characters shown in other scenes (like Genosha, Shi'Ar, Morlocks) that have never had a Marvel Legend. I'd happily take supporting characters like Valerie Cooper, Bolivar Trask and Senator Kelly as well who obviously had more screen time than she did.

I completely get that they need to make what would sell, but after 20+ years of collecting the line my personal desires are always going to be to acquire more world building characters that we've never gotten before in any form. Just one or two here and there is usually enough to keep me satisfied. The Henry Gyrich head is a good start, I guess.

I'm not knocking what you want, just expressing the importance of this line-up coming first. I wish Morph also had at least one other head to swap.

I want a Trish Tilby with alt parts to turn her into a sentinel. How cool would that be? After all these years, she can have an action feature. :) Maybe she's coming in a boxset with Beast?! Fingers crossed. Alt Val head to complete the package, or that comes with Morph.

Trask I think can be accomplished with Egghead's body and the Strange head from the Wong two-pack. If you've got an extra Stephen head, that head looks like Trask to me and I might do this.

I don't believe that I ever picked up an extra Egghead, but I like this idea! I might just have to put the Strange head on a different body, maybe labcoat Banner or the MCU Kingpin. I've got several spares of both of those bodies and plenty of others that might work as well.

Thanks for the suggestion!

If this is the line up for the 3rd wave I'll be happy, and it would be an all-in scenario for me.

I have been waiting for-EVER for this wave!! Morph looks amazing, just like I wanted. We so badly need a properly done Cyclops with the proper thigh straps like Morph has, on a bigger body obviously. Other than Scott, I think X-Men '97 has been killer. Will be all in and hopefully they ship soon. The leaks seem true, so Cable better be the traditional Liefeld-esque look he was in most of the time. Then I can be happy. And hopefully Bastion is coming too.

I don’t think this body will work for New Mutants. It has those ‘90s straps, probably keyed into the thighs. The sculpt lacks muscle definition, and where there is that definition, it’s more anime styled. This will work great for the more slender Morph, but not for much beyond that.
I don't think the whole thing would be used, mainly the non-specific leg bits and lower torso. Those have a sort of smooth rendering that I think would work for the first costumes of New Mutants.

Sucks that the only Bastion still is that fucking HasLab one. Whoever thought it was a great idea to put up a crowdfund literal months into a global lockdown when half the planet was fucking unemployed deserves to be fucking fired.
TBF, the timing of it was probably the reason I went for it. Literally nothing else to spend money on since there was no going out, no travel, no nothing.

Just make an all new body if you’re only gonna reuse 20% of something else.

I mean, a nice idea, but realistically it's cheaper to make 80% of a new body fitting the 20% you already did than 100%. Especially when the 80% for the new body you produced already can't really be used again itself. Not like that jacket or upper torso is broad enough for a Cyclops or Wolverine reuse.

I'm not saying that's definitely what they're doing, just saying it would likely work in this case and look pretty good relative to those early NM issues.

Yeah, there's nothing on Morph that I would want to see reused on hypothetical New Mutants teen bucks. I know "guess the reuse" is a game we're tempted to play because we assume "How can we reuse this?" is a question that's baked in to every new ML release, but I want to see them put on their big boy pants and give us something new for New Mutants.

Also, Morph has had how many figures from Hasbro - two? AoA was complete reuse except for the cape and head, right? VHS - was he the first to come with that jacket? I can't remember. But if not, then it was two heads. So for a pretty long-running character, getting an on-model bespoke version is totally fair.

I guess I'm not sure how reusing knees, upper calves, crotch, belt and lower torso wouldn't be "fair". Like, what does "fair" mean here? If any bits can be reused to save money they will be, and so long as it's for a character that fits the mold (like I think a young Cannonball) I'm all for it. I don't know what would be unfair in this regard.

People are always trying to "look out" for Hasbro by eyeing re-use opportunities and in this case, you just did it by identifying blue-suit Cannonball as an option.

I don't get what the issue is with the word.

I do think the animated styling is potentially in favor of a New Mutants reuse, especially in the torso. Those uniforms didn't have the typical form fitting superhero look and sat looser around the body. I can't get a great look at Morph, but it sorta looks like that's what he has going on.
