Marvel Cinematic Universe Figure Discussion

Here are a few poses with her back foot on the board's peg. No Legends figure aside from Maximum Spidey can bend their thighs up high enough to do the extreme crouch shown in that concept art I linked a few posts back, but if you fold one leg up under the board she can achieve a lean and grab with that open hand as shown in the third pic below.

As I noted in the last post the key to balancing her on the front is centering her weight slightly towards her right side on the board.

Dang, EC, you really got her whole Silver Surfussy hangin' out, don't ya? 😂

If there's one thing I've found with whoever they've had taking promo photos for the figures the last few years, it's that there's definitely some manipulation going on. Between the promo photos for Surfer and for Marrow, they either pop some of the limbs out and hide it with angles and such, or there's some digital trickery going on after the fact. Not that both figures aren't quite posable as-is, but there's a couple promo poses that they just can't do without some sort of dis-assembling or customizing.

The Hot Toys figures all look really cool, especially that Galactus. Really neat that he comes with little mini versions of the 4. At around 2.5 feet, that's a heckin' big figure, but I'm sure it'll look gorgeous in person. Still don't quite know if I want Hasbro to make a HasLab MCU Galactus or if tracking down that popcorn bucket will be enough. It's my own Sophie's Choice

"Expert" posers find a way. I make a shitload of photos, but the guys who just pose and take photos in their hand... some real talent there. It's great when one of those types is taking official photography. Nothing worse than un-dynamic product photography. The one dude posts on Fwoosh that works for Hasbro.... Shooting Galaxy? He's fantastic. References a lot of classic imagery as well.

I'm late but I got the F4 wave from BBTS last week and I love them. My favorite wave since the Genesis BAF wave, every figure is so well done and the likenesses are a lot better in person. Only nitpick is that Johnny's flamed-off hair is off-model, and I wish Sue had a clear limb or two. I think I need a second Surfer to make Mercury from X-Men...

Movie figures all just have that extra feeling of value to them given that almost all have unique and detailed sculpts. I love the comic stuff, but so many are basic bodies with painted details. I don't mind it, especially if it's comic accurate - but the variety of textures on the live action stuff really pops on the shelf.

Forgive this transgression as it isn't an MCU figure (though it should've been 😡), but I was wondering what happened to '77 Spidey as I thought it should've come out by now. Turns out I was right as the date was pushed back from June 3 to Aug 29. Can't believe I forgot about the ML of the 1st live-action superhero of my time that made me a superfan of superheroes. Now, if we could only get a Ferrigno Hulk & Bixby Banner set... 🤔

Has anybody picked up the Fantasticar popcorn bucket from Regal?? I don't have one of those theaters around me, but I'd be tempted to buy online if it comes back in stock to purchase that way. I saw that it was nearly $60, but it looks pretty sweet! I'm nowhere near as tempted by the Galactus head popcorn bucket, personally. I'd rather have that Fantasticar.

Was just at Target and MCU Electro scanned 11.99 for anyone interested.

Was it in stock at some point? I’ve been watching periodically, and It says “Coming Soon” right now on the Regal shop. Sign up for their mailing list and look for an email next Friday. I signed up for the Superman buckets, and both the Superman buckets (last week) and Smurfs buckets (this week) went up on release date.

Picked up Fiery Johnny and Sue on Thursday and Surfer came in today.

I didn't really want the unpowered Johnny but obviously as that team fills up it's like... Why would I not? Has anyone done a basic head swap with the unpowered head on the powered body?

Sue looks really good in hand versus what I've seen online. Even here. Funny how photography can work like that. My only issue with her is that her bracelet was stuck to the glassy black paint, and a bit of it flaked off. It can still be hidden if I put the bracelet back on it, but kind of a bummer.

It seems like the figures are flipped from the concept art. All of them have the bracelets on the wrong hand, and Sue's part goes the other way.

Love fiery Johnny, especially when you light him up. When I picked them up at the store, the staff all know I'm kind of finicky with my paint and they let me look through the only other one they had of each. I pointed out that Johnny ironically had the worst paint slop issues, if because one of them, the yellow eye paint was off center and a little blotchy. Just funny, the figure with the most minimal paint is the only one that had a severe QC issue.

Surfer is amazing. Might be my MCU figure of the Year until Yelena dethrones her (barring some upset). The cosmic energy orange wash on her in the board is beautiful. I love how she slips between varying shades of argent and cobalt in my study lighting.

The board is a little disappointing, with the bottom having the rim and saving plastic. Bothers me enough I might have to track down an older figure just for the board. Otherwise, she's a joy to pose even though she's not as articulate as the Widow body. I can hit most of the surfer girl poses I want (I draw a lot of them for warm-up).

Banger wave so far.

Why the heck does that bother you? I have most of the previous Legends boards, and also the Marvel Select one. But the heat scarring on the top of this one has made it my favorite so far.

Because that's not how a surfboard looks on the bottom and it looks chintzy in photos.

Which is your favorite of the other boards?
