McFarlane DC Multiverse

That was the most difficult wave of figures I’ve ever hunted at retail. The TRU truck arrived a day earlier than I expected, and I only found the 2x packed figures remaining on the pegs. I actually met the collector that beat me to them a few months later, and we became friends, but man was I cursing fate and everything else in my path on the day it happened.

On a related note, I resorted to eVilBay after missing Jessica Cruz online at GameStop and physically at both Wal-Mart and Target. Fortunately, that doesn’t happen very often, but I only have so much time and patience to chase after these damn things.
I’m not sure if I would have ever found wave 9 if not for that day. I certainly never saw them again as a set. There were so many “gotta have” characters in that wave along with an absolutely insane BaF. It was a challenge for sure.

I also resorted to ebay for Jess. I’ve not seen her in the wild or the local specialty stores. Prices on ebay aren’t really dropping much either. I knew she’d be difficult to find. Fortunately there’s only one more Green Lantern I want and that’s Jo Mullein. And she’s not a rumor at this point and may not get done before we close out from Todd.

Years ago (2009), I can upon an open box on the floor at Toys R Us when they were restocking. DCUC Chemo wave (9). Grabbed the set and headed to checkout while some other dude was checking the pegs. It felt glorious. Such a great wave.
Man...my Chemo is STILL missing his left leg! I wound up buying a loose Black Adam at a convention a while back, as I'd given up on ever finding that leg piece! That wave was a difficult one to track down, for sure.

The Chemo wave was during my time ordering cases from cornerstore comics before they went under. I ordered every DC wave by the case from them, going back to the Signature Series. Not ashamed to admit that I used to actually drive to CSC’s warehouse to pick them up.

I'll take all the lulls I can get when it comes to this line. I'm still hunting for plenty that are probably not getting restocked (Gray Ghost to finish my BTAS Jonah Hex, classic Kite-Man, unmasked Super Powers Batman).

Otherwise, I'm waiting for sales on older figures that are still floating around online. I just got the Punchline two-pack today, in fact. Spent a whole $20 bucks on it from BBTS. Before that I got the Mr. Bloom 2-pack for the same price on ebay. Patience pays off when it comes to the minor guys. Still waiting to find a good price on Abyss and Failsafe. But I've got time. Don't see those two increasing in price anytime soon.

Since I've cut way down on purchases, I think I only have the new '89 comic figures, '89 Joker, and the Batmissile on my radar at the moment when it comes to upcoming figures from McFarlane.

I think I have seen Kite-Man for sale on the Gamestop website. Currently, I have seen Kite-Man showing up in Target stores again. I was fortunate to find a Platinum Kite-Man recently. I have seen plenty of Kite-Man figures recently but if you are looking for the platinum figure specifically, then it's a matter of good timing.

i was in a target recently that had a full case of kiteman in the collectibles section... 5 standard and 1 platinum

and ive seen all of the new page puncher wave in the regular toy aisle there this week too

There’s a nonspecific rumor indicating a lot of rereleases of various Batmen with fabric capes.

I hope that applies to others like Alan Scott, Hourman, and Mr. Miracle.

It’s been McFarlane Mania for me so far in 2026.

Jessica Cruz arrived Tuesday. (Say what you will about eVilBay scalpers, but at least the turnaround time tends to be very impressive.). Dr. Midnite arrives from Amazon today. (Hopefully it will be the standard version). Platinum Zatanna is scheduled to arrive early next week. I’m seriously considering Simon Baz after reading a lengthy Green Lanterns story arc featuring him and Cruz. I’m also considering the most recent Deathstroke.

…and this is on top of the 11 figures I’ve already bought this year.

I have no explanations or excuses for this behavior. I’m supposed to be Team Mattel, dammit!

I’m trying to recall when I actually became “Team Todd”. Best of my recollection, it was probably Death Metal Superman when I realized how bored I’d become with the classic stuff. I thought it was a fresh spring breeze.

I've purchased at least one version of every single distinct character Todd has produced in the DC, Spawn (modern), Mortal Kombat, Dune and My Hero Academia lines and every single vehicle. I have quite a few figures from Todd that I genuinely love, but I not for one single solitary second have ever been on Team Todd. I still to this day prefer my existing Mattel DC collection over the McFarlane one. I never sold any of my Mattel or DC Direct figures, but I know that I'm going to do a pretty large McFarlane DC purge at some point. Fortunately a relatively large number of those figures have still never even been opened. I won't sell all, but probably three-quarters of them at least.

All of my DCD figures are gone. All my DCUC figures are gone. And I bought most of them twice. Long story.

I wasn’t happy with Todd’s takeover. Not one bit. But I obviously came around. Turns out I’m not married to the six inch scale after all. But I did want something other than the standard fare. Todd gave me that anyway. The return of Mattel doesn’t bode well for that. Standard fare, coming up.
