X-Men '97

I don't think he was in season one, was he? Would have been a cameo anyway, if so. I haven't gone back for a rewatch since the first season concluded so nothing is fresh for me. I'm surprised they didn't give him a hoodless portrait, especially considering he's a deluxe. I'm guessing the gun Dwight pointed out is intended for a different character? He also may have grabbed on quickly in the episode "Obsession" from the original series.
Only gun I remember him having in the original X-Men series was a laser pistol he used to confront Cable when he broke into his chalet BEFORE he became Archangel.

Which reminds me, we need better unmasked Warren heads regardless of his skin color. Don't dig the "clawed" fingers on the open hands. Would have liked the flechette feather piece from X-Force Warren included over another of Cable's guns.

As for X97 I think he's likely to appear more significantly in the second season. I only remember him as a background cameo during the Genoshan ballroom scene before Cable / Cockroach Sentinel shows up.

I buy everything Warren. He looks like a basic repaint of the new XForce version with Cables gun. As I like that figure, this one will be good too. Still not sold on the wings, kinda wish they would've made them less curved but I suppose it makes sense they just reused the old ones. He'll probably go wherever I find to fit that new big ass Apocalypse coming out in a few months.

Yeah... I love the small wings with the Death mask, and then the unmasked head... thats how Randy Bowen did it in his bust collection and thats my plan in Legends now, with this figure.

Morph turns into Archangel in the opening episode.

This figure looks just like the old one but bigger but then the damn unnecessary forearm slices!! Hasbro - WTF?

His headsculpts are quite nice.

But I also really thought this was going to be Bastion. Surely they aren't skipping the villain of the first season?

Maybe the blue/white version was too similar to the red/white version we just got. Then again, the blue/pink is even more similar to the black/silver X-Force we just got. I would not have been opposed to them releasing the blue/white costume. It's the most "Angel" costume to me. In an ideal world, they'd pack that one with both feather wings and metal wings, and blue skin tone and Caucasian skin tone.

He must be back in this outfit for season 2. Or at the very least, he'll be featured in some opening titles with this look as they callback to the original series like they did with season one. I'm curious if the look will be addressed in the show since he had switched to the white and blue suit by the end of the original series. Or, their intention is for this to be an X-Men 92 figure but Marvel is forcing them to use the 97 branding which is essentially what they're doing to Mondo.

With Apocalypse being the main threat of season 2, it wouldn't surprise me to see Archangel be one of his Horsemen, alongside Gambit, as has been done before. Since I already pre-ordered Apocalypse a while I ago, I may give Archangel a tentative pre-order, just to be safe. For I am weak and pliable with plastic.

The trailer for season 2 showed him standing in what looks like a facility next to Psylocke, so I'm pretty sure he's on the outs with Apocalypse unless they're both working for him. I think it makes more sense that they get the call from Forge and Bishop when putting together a new team; perhaps later when Apocalypse rears his head. Both Warren and Cable would want to be on those missions. Who knows, he may become important to the plot in terms of deprogramming Gambit.

I am loving this Archangel figure!

The head sculpts are gorgeous and I love the included folded wings accessory.

Also excited that maybe this means he'll have a true role in season 2?

He definitely has a role, but I just wonder if they'll payoff Shard's line from the original series where she refers to him as destined to join the X-Men.
Wouldn't mind it. Wouldn't mind if they actually referred to him as an original like in Bobby's singular episode. I think they showed him in the O5 suits when they explained Bobby's backstory, no?

Yup. They always contradicted themselves with that kind of stuff. The show started with that group of X-Men intended to be the first version in that universe and then they basically retconned it after it was picked up for the full series order. Still bugs me to this day that when Magneto shows up in episode three everyone is like, "Who?" And when the Beyond Good and Evil arc ended it was supposed to be the finale and the implication at the end was supposed to leave the audience thinking Archangel had joined the team, but then they got the surprise pick-up and couldn't add anyone new to the team for that last season.
