I woke up to a treat from my cat. Three huge puke stains and a shit stain right outside my downstairs bathroom. On the carpet, of course.
The thing is this is not new. He has treated our downstairs carpeted hallway like a toilet for about a year now. Either puked on or shat on at least once per week. This morning was excessive. He's old, we've had him for over 10 years. My wife wants to bring him back to the in-law's farm where he came from which would be a death sentence for his spoiled, pampered ass when winter comes.....if not sooner. In the past I've been an advocate for keeping him but today I'm starting to change my mind.
We've had on-and-off problems with one of our cats throwing up on the carpet all the time. She's healthy (if getting older), has a good diet, etc. There's nothing wrong with her. We have no idea why she does it, and it's absolutely infuriating to come downstairs in the morning to like four different puke spots on the carpet.
But hey...and no judgement on you or your wife... this is what we signed up for being pet owners. Best investment ever was a small carpet steamer/cleaner thing. Still sucks, but it does make life more livable when she's on one of her 'throw up everywhere, as a treat' phases.
I bought a new car back in October (not brand new, but I'd been driving the same car for 17 years and needed to upgrade before possible tariffs). It's definitely the nicest thing I've ever owned, maybe aside from my TV, so I've been pretty careful with it so far. It's black, so it's easy for it to look dirty and I ended up subscribing to a car wash app for unlimited washes. I've always used the touchless option, but about a month ago it was out of service at the time I was there so I stupidly opted for "soft touch". And it chipped the paint all over my car's hood and front end, even a couple places on the roof and one on the side. Had the manager of the station file a report with corporate, got no response after two weeks, called in and got it expedited, was contacted via email, answered questions and sent more pics, and now it's been another three weeks with nothing. And I don't expect to get much satisfaction in the end. Sigh. My car's insurance already more than doubled with this new vehicle, I'd rather not have to file a claim of my own.
DUDE.
I (or, my company) just bought a demo model 2024 Sierra 1500 X-31. It had 8k on it when we got it. It's black.
Within a month of driving, it was covered in tiny rock chips. Not just where you'd expect them - but all over the place. Even in areas where someone would need to be doing donuts next to the vehicle to have any chance of creating damage there. I've even gone and talked to industry friends that used to be professional car painters (they're still professional painters, but in the industrial sector now) and all of them have said this isn't normal and it's a fucked up paintjob and this will continue to happen and get worse.
I'm SO fucking angry. And the dealership keeps blowing it off and pretending this is normal and I'm 'following gravel trucks too closely' and so on. Just completely laying it off on me as a driver. Not sure how my 'bad driving' got me rock chips all over the side of the truck box above the rear wheel, on a panel literally designed to deflect. Fucking idiotic and infuriating. I've been fighting with them since the end of January.
That is to say - it might not have been the car wash. You may already have a faulty paint job that was touched up before you bought it. I'd consider talking to the dealership. Fat load of good it will do, but you never know.
This is one that I have no one to blame for but myself, but I'm still a bit peeved.
You should be more than peeved.
I run an insulation company -- my crews have to go into occupied houses fairly frequently, dragging around ladders, equipment, hoses, tools, etc. If I heard this happened, I would be absolutely furious with my guys and there's a really good chance they'd be spending an unpaid week at home to think about what dumb fucks they are.
If you operate a business where you will be working inside other peoples' homes, there are standards and practices. You follow the company guidelines and you follow instructions from your superiors and from the home owner. If any of these are in conflict, work stops (or doesn't start) until an accord is reached between those elements. If they didn't think they could do what they needed to do in the way you wanted, they were responsible for not doing anything and having a conversation with either you or their boss about it and creating a new procedure or telling you that you would need to make alterations to how you prepped for them to work.
In no case at all would it be an acceptable result to just knock a customer's possessions all over the floor and step on them. And certainly after the FIRST time they knocked something over all work should have stopped and they should have re-assessed everything they had done and were planning to do to avoid any further risk of damage (or injury, in point of fact).
Sorry to go on a tangent, but this is fucking bullshit and you should be firing off a scathing email and asking them how they intend to compensate you for any damages and for your time to repair/correct what they did. You are owed that, in my opinion. And you'd certainly get it if I was the person in charge of that crew.
