Super 7 Ultimates Thread

I laugh when people say 'they look cool.' They're renders. Super7 figures always look better in render form. Always. Also... I totally called it with the 65 dollar price tag.

So the $65 price tag isn't a surprise... thats been the retail asking price for Ultimates for a year now.

I'm intrigued by a three figure wave as I suspect they arrived at $200 being the price commitment their customers are comfortable with... 4 figures at $50+ to 3 figures at $65 as a wave keeps the price of a wave in the same ball park.

I will be most interested to see what wave 2 looks like. Assuming they stick with 3, do they give 3 from the 'Sharks team, or two heros, one bad guy?

I'll guess wave 2 - assuming they sell enough Wave 1 to do a wave 2 - will be Walro, Dolph and then if they go villain is it Capt Bizarrely, who had a vintage toy, or one of T-Ray's crew like Shad or Dredge or Wall Eye?

Or do they just go three Heroes and include Lorca?

My guess would be Bizarrely... but then to finish the Sharks crew we'd need Lorca, Bronc and Angel from a wave 3.

Frankly, I'll be shocked if they can deliver the entire crew... but here's hoping.

Interesting to note that the estimated shipping date is November which is pretty much in-line with Super7's older preorder model. It makes me think there's some fear these won't do well enough to even go into production, and since all we have are renders, it's possible they're not that far into the prototype stage. The only difference right now is I don't see a listed end date for the preorder.

ToyFair is Feb 17th-ish? If we don't see painted prototypes between now and then, I'd pretty much guarantee that S7 has no faith in these garnering enough sales to move forward and haven't even been prototyped yet.

I just want to remind everyone that these started at 35 dollars. 35 bucks. All Ultimates were originally THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS.

When I tell you that these could still be 35 dollars, trust me...they could still be 35 dollars. Hell, they could be less. If you saw their profit margin for these, compared to how much they actually spend to make this, you'd shit yourself.

Do not pay those prices, I beg of you. They deserve to go under.

They'll have to be shown online. There's almost no chance Super7 is spending the money to be at Toy Fair, be it business decision or because they just plain don't have it.

I have not seen the numbers myself, but I 100% agree.

I was using it more as a calendar marker than saying 'they need to be at ToyFair.' The figures are up for pre-order, so if between now and when other companies are showing off all kinds of cool shit at TF, they don't even bother to show some painted prototypes -- it's just proof that they don't actually give a shit.

The fulfillment date is interesting because Fylnn did make it sound like these would be a short turn around when he was teasing them.

I'm very curious if these hit the MOQ number.

For purple more familiar with the lore, isn't T-Ray supposed to be a bigger character like Monstar or Mumra? Feels weird seeing him at the standard price point

Nope, always been only slightly bigger than Mako.

Yeah I remember seeing him in a video talking about how they were changing how things were done and they would be moving away from the year(+) preorder. Instead they would be trying to do the more standard model of showing items when they are almost ready to ship or be on shelves. Or at most maybe 1-2 quarters out from delivery. So if these are being revealed now I would have expected summer at the latest.

I agree that maybe they are not confident in the line and are hedging their bets. That or they have gone back on the idea of short turn arounds on reveal-to-delivery.

Oh shit! It’s been so long since I’ve bought (or even really thought about) an ULTIMATE! I totally forgot they do the fake renders in poses the figures can never achieve and finally figures are always off color and jankier!

I was curious how they'd do the pre-fish versions, since they were fully different bodies. So at least that's answered. I'm sure I'll never use them, though. Why would I want a non-fish Tigershark? Might as well do pre-op Silverhawks.

I do like that Octavia has swappable tentacles. That seems like a good way to handle that.

Meanwhile, two air-breather mask heads for T-Ray and one unmasked water-breathing version was a bad idea. Most action scenes you're posing these characters in are going to be in the water, and now he has no angry face to stare down Mako in the briny deep.

I hope they don't chicken out on this line like with Dungeons & Dragons, but we are getting the boss hero and villain. So that's something, just in case.
