Big Bad Workshop General

I mean it’s a good figure, but I was more excited for it 2 years ago lol

I don’t think I’ve even opened anything from wave 2 yet haha

Like the Major still having 4 stars on his shoulders?
They explained this.

Stryker is a part of Sabre Squadron which is made up of foreign armed forces officers and therefore can't promote to general so they have their own ranking system that allowed him to rise to the rank of 4-star major.

No, really. That's how they explained it.

I think what's going to help me is that I'm just genuinely not really interested in most of the offerings. So I can enjoy this one figure knowing I'm probably only going to get like 2 or 3 more within the next year. I think if I got too into it and bought lots, I'd get sick of them really quick.

I saw that bullshit excuse when it was first pointed out to them lol

Blue uniforms would either Navy or Airforce typically, right? So something like Admiral would probably be the correct naming but I’m not too worried about the rank names for these characters. Major Bludd is probably more general level within Cobra but the name is too cool to change him to General Bludd. It’s mostly intended to be another military head but in blue instead of green. Use as desired. The lack of alternate heads on him is disappointing but I’ve got plenty from General Brown to go around.

I think I’m kind of just tired out of monster force.

I'm not even in the line and I get it. It's got the same rhythm Legions has: lot of time for a lot of reuse and exhaustive sameness.

Interesting enough, both also seem to have The Lore! as a talking point whenever the reuse and sameness is brought up (general social media).

I'd be down for a black-suited Navy admiral version, but the details of a Naval officer uniform are notably different with wrist bands instead of shoulder stars, and I'm skeptical they'd try.

I've never customized a figure before, but the sailor in me is ready to somehow work that NPC priest into a Navy chaplain to join the Monster Force team.

Yeah, they spent a lot of time trying to convince me why Declan's cousin's head sculpt was a real treasure.

Now, it is a cool story that he's a sleeper agent werewolf, but if that doesn't reflect on the toy itself, it doesn't matter.

Yeah, I went in pretty heavily on wave 1. Forgotten King, Van Helsing, Dracula, 8 Obsidian Sleepwalkers, and 2 Crismon Moon Sleepwalkers (feel a bit burned by those).

As for wave 2 picked up 3 Generals, Donner Party, Halloween Boy, Eraser, and Caligari. Cancelled everything else.

Going in on Crimson Moon, mostly just because of the IP they're stealing more than the figures themselves.

Idk, the long wait times don't help, but its seeing the same sculpts over and over and over and over again at $40 as well as an over reliance on army building variants in the line that's really beginning to just tire me out. Copying the Super7 strategy of having to preorder full waves to get all the accessories was also annoying this time around as well.

They need to figure something out with these con exclusives, because getting like 3 different transparent erasers in the same year was exhausting and seemed harmful to early adopters. Plus I hate see the con-preorder price for the armybuilder con exclusives, knowing that the it'll be 20% more when it goes live on BBTS for people that don't go to east coast cons.

I don't even mind reuse, but like the face paint just isn't up to modern standards and the price is just too high for reuse. Like seriously, even $30-$35 would go a long way to helping alleviate this issue, especially with BBTS being the manufacturer and retailer for the line. Soldiers of Fortune going from being the budget line when it was first announced to being the same old price (with the best figure locked behind a full wave preorder) was really a tipping point for me with FMF and Big Bad Workshop

Honestly the lore has kinda been the weak point haha

It's an interesting concept and they talk up the story, but like the story rally hasn't substantially advanced sense preorders launched back for wave 1 in 2022.

"We need to figure out a fiction reason to do a character or monster like that" or "We want to put the fiction first" have been said too many times for a line that doesn't even have like 1 full comic issue worth of story after 3.5 years haha

You have now reminded me that valaverse had a comic book and the same justifications.

Don't get me started on the abject stupidity of announcing a budget-friendly army builder line only to make them the same price as everything else. I don't know how you can misread your audience that badly if you did not think that was going to piss a lot of people off.

Luckily, I don't care about those figures. Even looking at your list of stuff, it's easy to see where the burn-out comes from when it's 20 figures on 3 bodies. I have no interest in collecting this line and having to look at that on my shelves, which is why I'm just choosing the couple of figures overall that really speak to me.

I didn't know about the novel.
I really don't know how you can call yourself a fan of great prose and not have read the Valaverse Action Novel. Probably titled 'GUNS N TITS' or something.
