McFarlane Spawn

$60 is about double what I'd be willing pay for this. I'd love to buy all of these Founders Edition figures, but it's not going to happen at that price point. I could even see going as high as $40, but no way I'm paying $60.
The whole industry has gone crazy, pricewise. Big producers like McF and even massive companies like Hasbro are seeing small outfits selling premium figures in small print runs at $100+ pricepoints and thinking, why not me too? Now we have mass-produced, mid-detail, not-at-all premium figures from Hasbro going for $50+ and they aren't going to stop there. $60 for this Spawn 'cuz metal chains or whatevs' is so in your face greedy. I am priced out of crap like this.

I just realized that McFarlane Toys decided to scrap the extra swappable big boot armor that this Elite Soawn was supposed to come with.

I got my copy. I’ve been waiting for a spawn like this for a while now. I’m probably one of the many people here who have never read a single issue of spawn much past issue 100 so to see McFarlane toys really go back to the well and deliver a truly classic spawn with a wired cloth cape and interchangeable chains is a nice touch. Also looks way better than the Kickstarter version

I've never read a single Spawn comic book  I've seen some of the animated episodes and the movie (guilty pleasure, so bad but so good lol), but I just really like this basic design. I've been passing on Spawn figures forever, because they all are based on some version of Spawn I don't know, and all I've wanted is the original design with a poseable cape. So I plopped down $60 for this, and I don't like it, but I'm going to swallow it. My only gripe is I wish it came with either an utterly ridiculously long poseable cape, or a pre-posed plastic one (ala Year Two Batman) that you could attach him to for a shelf display. My minds eye always has Spawn surrounded by a ridiculous cape.

This one will do, though.

So I didn't imagine it then.

I thought it was just a poor layout on the slide when I went back.

Yeah they ditched it. Not that it’s a big loss because Spawn never wore the big boot when he was in this costume. Classic spawn in his first costume was always more meant to be the “Superhero” look. But when his costume mutated around issue #32-33, that’s when he started looking like a hellspawn, big boot and all. I actually prefer that armor since spawn has worn that suit pretty consistently dating back to 1995, but I appreciate Todd making the effort in having the classic costume be relevant again

That's what I'm expecting. No red on the torso, just black and white. That version needs a big forearm gauntlet and Capullo head anyway so hopefully a signature version not long after. This guy sold out before I could order, maybe I see him at Walmart. I'd like to see at least classic Violator soon if not Overtkill. A more traditional Medieval Spawn or Commando Spawn would be great also.

I'm pretty sure the whole Angela lawsuit over rights and royalties also included something to do with Medieval Spawn, at least in that look. I'm pretty sure that's why every other Spawn "knight" has looked completely different than that first appearance version.

Maybe $60 for Spartan depending on how he looks. But probably not Savage Dragon or any of the others at this rate/price.

A Witchblade (90s ver.) and the Darkness figure I'd probably be a little more lenient on as we're not likely to get either of those any time soon outside of this method. I'd think the Fathom / Michael Turner estate would probably benefit from this as well, as I never hear much of that property anymore.

Also a bummer any other T&Angel would be derivative. And Domina.

Yeah Domina and Tiffany are Todd’s creations. And I’m pretty sure Gabriella, Rafaela and all of the other angels from the Angela miniseries that was published in 1995 are all of limits because those are Neil Gaiman characters too

Witchblade was Top Cow wasn’t she? Or was she a part of Aspen Comics?
