Marvel Cinematic Universe Figure Discussion

If he's not already planned, I bet alt-deco Sentry gets released this time next year as a stand-alone, like the Black deco Spider-Verse Spot figure.

Which I just saw in person for the first time and I really like his translucent hands! Didn't know they were and that looked great.

Just saw the movie, and my thoughts on the remaining figures that probably have been expressed already by someone else:

I imagine Bucky and Ghost are gonna be a set together but they're trying reeeeeeeeeeally hard to pretend people didn't expect Taskmaster to die, so they'll show this set after everyone has probably seen the movie and we can stop the charade.

Maybe for the remaining figures.... they can just do a damned wave? Bucky, Ghost, Taskmaster, and Valentina, with three comic book Thunderbolts. Something for everyone, but since it's movie heavy that means the BAF will be a comic figure. Bucky will have no part and Val will have the torso.

No spoilers, but having seen the movie... were I to decide who got packed with whom, I would have gone:

Yelena/Red Guardian
Sentry/Val
US Agent/Taskmaster
Ghost/Bucky

BUT...
pairing Ghost and Taskmaster together makes sense since they're essentially antagonistic with each other, and so are Sentry and US Agent to a lesser degree. I guess Bucky with Val makes sense too. As I pointed out before, he could be seen as the popular figure, so putting him with a no as desirable 'civilian' figure makes sense to me.

I'm almost convinced we're just gonna get Bucky and Ghost though. Taskmaster is all over all the posters and promo material, so I'm sure Hasbro was told to not reveal she isn't getting a figure for a while and this is how they're doing that.

I also really don't think it was cool
How obvious that death was. Worst kept secret... Maybe ever for them. I would almost say since Tobey and Andrew in No Way Home, but I think they did a better job then than with this. And as I said in the movie thread, for what? I don't think it really served any true point with plot or the other characters.
I loved the movie, but that one character is the only sticking point to me, and I'm not crazy about how they're handling the marketing for those that couldn't get to it opening weekend. But I get they probably think the die hard fans have gone and now it's time to rope in the only-for-avengers butts.

Finally got around to seeing the movie today (as soon as I got out is when I started noticing all the updated promos, so glad I saw it when I did). Man, you guys weren't kidding with how emotional it was. Some of those points hit really close to home for me, and a bunch of others in the theater as well, since there were a fair amount of sniffles and kleenex blowing by the end. Really meant a lot to have characters like these, but especially Bob, who are able to be heroic and loved despite their literal and figurative shortcomings.

I was already anticipating the figures, and now I am even moreso. I definitely want a Ghost; I know she wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but I always tend to dig the dry, sarcastic, snarky side characters. Plus she just looks the coolest and has the coolest powers, I think. I'd totally take a Val as well, especially since it seems like we'll be seeing at least a little more of her.
I knew what was gonna happen to Taskmaster ahead of time, but it still kinda bummed me out how quickly she got taken out. I know it kinda fits with the theme/message of the movie, but at least a little redemption for her would've been nice. If she HAD to die, at least letting her get taken out by Sentry/Void or Val's second in command military guy or something. But I'd still totally take a figure of her, because that costume was really cool. Same with Void- he probably had more screentime than the Sentry suit, and since something tells me we'll be seeing him again down the road, he feels necessary.

I think the only tricky sell would be Val- they'd either have to pack her in with a wanted figure or with an important BAF part. At this point, though, if the figures aren't already in the works, I can see them giving us maybe one or two more figures- maybe Ghost and Void?, since the new, arguably more interesting costumes will undoubtedly appear again in Doomsday. I did kinda like Bucky's new costume, and Walker's was pretty cool (though I'd need him to come with a taco shield). Still, I wonder what sort of window we really have for more figures, with all the projects coming out soon. It's getting great reviews, but it's not a juggernaut like No Way Home or Deadpool that could potentially warrant an entire wave a year or more after the movie.

Not legends, but Hot Toys previewed some of their Thunderbolts figures: Taskmaster, Ghost, Bucky, Yelena, and Red Guardian.

Same. Come on Hasbro, it's been a while since you did an entire cast close to the movie's release. I know you want to.

I wish they'd done Sentry/Val, it's the only set I would've bought no questions asked. I only want Sentry and Walker's shield, I'm happy with the versions of the rest I already have. Hopefully one of the 3D printer dudes makes a Val head I can paint; she'd be a simple enough custom.

Just to play Devil's Advocate, Hot Toys is kinda infamous for revealing or alluding to figures and then never releasing them. It's not a ton, but there's a definite list of things they showed off and just never released, or teams they've left incomplete, so I wouldn't necessarily take them showing off a character as meaning that they'll actually be produced. It doesn't exactly look like it from what I can tell, but they could very well have just taken the old Hot Toys version of that character and dressed them up a bit to look like the new one.

However, I wouldn't be surprised to see that some of these companies may have made the whole team. I'm sure Marvel wanted to keep it secret that certain characters weren't around much, so they probably just sent over all the materials to Hasbro, Sideshow, etc. Especially if it's something that changed a bit later in production, as it seems to have, then I can see them being unaware that Marvel basically nixed one of the characters.

I feel like Bucky and Ghost are givens, like others have said, but not sure on any others. If they did happen to do them all, though, a wave might be the best bet, versus more 2 packs. Ghost seems to be the least favorite of the team as of now; not a knock against her, per se, she just had the least to do and got the least amount of development (I really liked her, though). She, along with Bucky to an extent, were the straight men to the comedic antics of the others. So depending on who you were to pair up with who, the pack may not sell quite as well; and, given that there's more or less 5 characters left to do, it would mean someone not being included. So a wave, with a somewhat important BAF, might be the way to go, or just a normal Spiderverse/NWH-esque wave on cardbacks without BAF parts.
