CREATIVE BEAST STUDIOS Beasts of the Meso/Ceno/Cyberzoic

I hope some of you guys backed the Allo because that figure is incredible
I literally only backed for the KS exclusive (because I grew up loving Dino-Riders) and the attack-raptor with ..Sentry? I think that's what the dude was called. With the price and the fact that I'm not really a big dinosaur guy, I figured I'd grab these from the KS and then maybe something else when the next thing comes along that really grabs my attention. But, of course, it's been a long time since the KS and the KS figures aren't even done yet so nothing else has caught my eye.

At this rate, don't know that I'll even want anything else by the time they show stuff beyond what was in the KS.

The line has continued beyond what was in the KS. Not strictly speaking the Cyberzoic stuff (no armors or riders), but dinos like the Stegosaurus are releasing soon-ish and were not part of the crowdfund.

Yeah, I should have clarified; my entire interest in this line is the 'modern version of Dino-Riders' thing. They haven't shown anything outside the KS in that regard, so far as I am aware. I don't really care about just some random dinos. Not my thing.

Right, nothing in the Dino-Rider vein outside the Kickstarter. But how dare you with that "random dino" comment!

Sorry, I meant to say that I'm not personally interested in buying Veronica the Stegosaurus.

Yikes. That is saying a lot since Zabu can hardly move at all. Will I hope some of you guys backed the Allo because that figure is incredible

I have them both packed away at the moment, but when I got them, I took this to compare the 2.

This isn't a big move, but the Smiley can't even do THIS without popping the front legs out of their sockets (trust me, I tried, and popped the legs off).

I complained about this and was told I was crazy because the real animal can't do that.

I wasn't gonna bring it up (and I didn't call you crazy) since it was so fruitless last time, but yeah: Smilodon had limited lateral limb movement compared to modern cats. So it goes.

You mean the Ice Age movies LIED to me? o_O
What are you going to tell me next, that Mammoths, sloths and sabertooth tigers DIDN'T hang out together?

Early in the evolution? Not really needed for how they existed?

I'm not an expert in the field by ANY stretch, but you'd think just taking down large herbivores would involve some amount of spreading their forelimbs apart to grab prey. Bison aren't exactly narrow. At the very least, it would take a lot to convince me that the CBS figure is achieving the same spread between the front paws as the real animal. But hey.. maybe. Again, not an expert. I just know what I want my cool action figure to do.

It's not really about being early, none of the modern cats are directly descended from the sabertooths I don't think. Smilodon was thought to be an ambush predator, last I read, built more for power than chasing and agility. Powerful build, somewhat more bear-like, front legs adapted for strength and pinning prey.
