Last Movie Watched

Poltergeist is one I need to rewatch; been ages. I remember being terrified as a kid of the scene where he rips his face off. Thinking of it still jeebies my heebies. But I remember really liking the rest of it- Zelda Rubinstein was a legend. Hearing her narrate The Scariest Places On Earth made it all the more spooky to me. NECA, where's my ultimate Tangina Barrons?!

Poltergeist 2 isn't bad really. It has some really great sequences, but I just haven't seen it as much as the original. The family dynamic is what makes the movie for me. But Poltergeist 2 has Taylor and he is one of the best characters in any of the Poltergeists.

Also, Sonny Landham plays a scumbag in the original!

I've been tearing through Halloween movies over the last six weeks. I'll post the list once I finish next week.
Last movie I watched, though, was Trick R Treat. Husband, daughter and I got to watch it on the big screen locally last week as a family outing. One of my favorite movies of all time, so it was really cool getting to experience it with the family like that.
I almost don't want to know, but how old is your daughter now?

She's 9, now! 4th freaking grade!

It goes by so, so freaking fast. We fly out for Disney in the morning, our second Halloween there, and the difference between going at 3 and going at 9 is wild.

Great age for Disney. Have fun!

Tonight's horror movie, Bring Her Back. This one was a RIDE. Wild from front to back. Not for the gore squeamish or those with kids who are sensitive to kids getting badly messed up. The kids do not fair well in this one (or Talk to Me for that matter, but this one felt more intense). Sally Hawkins, though. Brilliantly weird and awful and terrifying. She's just chewing on all the scenery in this one. It's one of those roles that's so extreme that I really hope it was a blast for her to play.

I don't know that I'd go back to this one later, but like Talk to Me, glad I gave it a whirl. It's memorable.

Yeah, Bring Her Back is one of the more disturbing things I've seen. It and Talk to Me are solid 3.5/5s for me.
Somehow I didn't realize until after watching Bring Her Back that both are done by the same director duo. But of course that totally tracks.
