Jada Toys Scooby Doo

For $30, they come with one alternate head, a pair of alternate hands, and an accessory? $150 for the full gang still seems like too much for me. I love how they look, but I collect so many lines already. I can get myself off from these and admire from afar. While I'd love to own the gang, those monsters are what appeal to me as a collectible line of figures.

These look great. While I only have a passing interest in Scooby Doo I can appreciate how good these look. I'm glad to see a dark horse like Jada to nail these so well.

$30 seems perfectly reasonable to me. Licensed figures with (good) unique sculpts coming from a small company. Unfortunately, it doesn't get much cheaper these days.
I've seen a lot of sentiment elsewhere on the internet about toys or upcoming video games and consoles or pick whatever other hobby people are into.

My read is it's actually just the realization of how f***** things are economically if not the rest. And people are finally having their come to Jesus moments with luxury and what they can afford. Prices are up. Income is not. There's a lot of uncertainty and stress. And yet they keep churning out content they want us to consume and it's all cleverly dialed to make you want to.

Toys in particular used to be an impulse purchase. I would argue they haven't been ever since they hit over $15, but I also impulse purchase $100 items so don't ask me about budgeting.

I know a guy who is routinely stressed about video games because they just keep coming out and they cost over $100 Canadian. And he has no time. And whenever we catch up he's like. How do you have time for these. I don't. A play like one game a month. If that. I just pick what looks cool and I accept. I will never get to a bunch of other stuff. He cannot fathom that and I think all the capitalism is taking a mental toll. I can't read every book. I can't read every comic. I can't watch every movie and show. You got to make cuts. You have to make peace and find the joy in what you have. And if maybe Daphne brings you a little more joy than building X Factor, face that realization and reallocate.

But I'm two decades invested into other 6" lines. These are great, but not in line with what I collect.
Totally understandable. I was just pointing out that big bad Hasbro has to charge $28 for a 6” figure now, a smaller, more indie toy company charging just $2 more for something pretty comparable to what Hasbro would do with the line seems fairly reasonable. Granted, I think we all agree modern prices suck but comparing apples to oranges here the prices seem comparable. And yeah, priorities and love of certain properties are always going to dictate where we put our money.

When Scrappy Doo comes out, I will put him into a display with Art the Clown torturing him. Stupid little bastard.
