Spider-Man Retro 2026 Wave with Cardiac

Spider-Man 2099 looks like a really nice update.

Cardiac looks amazing! Makes me want a figure of Blizzard 1! Cardiac fought Iron Man, too. This one is a must-have. Love that he got the energy effects, too.

They’ve kinda fudged it - there’s a nose shape, but no definition on nostrils and so on. The source art doesn’t seem to have a nose at all, but I’m not sure that makes much sense! Suppose they could have gone for a less defined shape but still had some kind of bulge there.

You’re right though - something was pinging on my radar for the face and that’s it! Suppose I could always slice it off if it bothers me in person.

I did want an updated 2099 on the newer body. Thats pretty sweet. I'll probably order that one. But i legitimately have no idea who most of the others on the rumor list are. Cardiac looks cool, but I know nothing of him. I'll see what's in the wave and what the baf is and all that good jazz.

I love love love the idea of Nightcrawler as Spider-Man, however shortlived.

I've come around to thinking that was more coincidence than anything. I still want a figure of Slyde, but it'd be an odd thing for them to tease!

He’s another case of blue&black confusion. Sometimes he’s colored black with blue highlights, and other times he’s colored blue. In either case, the artists tend to get lazy and obscure his nose in the mask.

So he's got a nose in the same way Deadpool and Spider-Man have noses. They just don't sculpt the noses through the mask on DP and Spidey, unlike what we're seeing with Cardiac.

I just zoomed in and took a good look and I do believe you are correct, sir. It's all so crazy and seemingly nonsensical how the ML team implements novel sculpts into the line. I mean, I'm all for going the extra mile and not skimping when it comes to details, but there's no rhyme or reason to it; some figures get phoned-in, half-assed execution while others get all the bells-and-whistles despite there being no reuse potential whatsoever.

Isn't it weird? With all these longstanding rumors about why Cardiac couldn't be made - and the ML team even alluded to those challenges - I'd have expected him to show up in some barebones form, made as cheaply as possible so they could recoup even higher licensing fees. But here we are with a brand new sculpt, just for him, released as a single figure at regular MSRP. I'm absolutely not complaining, but it is confusing. Maybe Erik Larsen got to have a say in the figure itself and demanded they go the extra mile!
