New York Comic Con Oct 9-12th 2025

Playsets and dioramas seem to me to be the hardest thing to obtain now, either in terms of scarcity or how much the good stuff costs now. I always thought that the BAF model could have lent itself to playsets really well but Hasbro never seemed inclined to pursue that.

Past discussions on this have indicated that there are more collectors interested in BAFs, then in playsets/dioramas. I would love to see more quality sets done, There are a multitude of possibilities:
Danger Room
Urban street level
Avenger’s Mansion
Savage Land
Under water/ Atlantis
Battlefield
Planer Scape
Villain lair
Laboratory
Strange’s Sanctum
Quinjet
Blackbird
Vault / Raft
…and that’s just off the top of my head. I’m sure there’s plenty more.

It's interesting because we're in a time where there's a surprising number of 3rd party solutions for dioramas, it's just that so many of them are cost-prohibitive and a little limited in variety.

Like, I check bbts for this pretty often, and if you want sort of general urban, nature, ruins, or industrial, you can find options for display. The problem is the cost usually starts at $60 and goes up from there as most of them are done in higher end manufacturing processes. Meant to be used more with equally high-end 1/12 and 1/6 figures.

And if you want something really specific or evocative you're going to have a hard time. I still sometimes kick myself for not picking this up, but I just didn't have the income at the time. https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Prod...A7CjJFg8LWzrdb5gVKiOUV1tj5wPLxGGOA4-7x0qY3-Pv

There's definitely some appetite for dios, and for vehicles. Hasbro even knows this as they're starting to more and more cater to it in the Joe lines. It's probably just not as cost effective in the others due to licensing.

I am still hoping for a Fantasticar HasLab. I have given up on the playset Haslabs, as noted there are some of us who I think would support it but probably not the numbers needed based on past discussions.

But - a HasLab with the training uniform New Mutants and the Danger Room might be how we get both - start with the original 5, plus Cypher, Magma, Warlock, Magik and Chuck - so 10 figures - then tiers could be training uniform Kitty, Powered up Sunspot, Powered up Magma....

Some panels I have my eye on (Central time cuz that's where I'm at):

THURSDAY 10-9
10:00 Hasbro Marvel

FRIDAY 10-10
10:00 Hasbro TF/Classified/GB
1:00 Mondo

Man, one of my colleagues figured out a way to go to NYCC on my school district's dime! He's attending professional development workshops that they offer for educators! Maybe I'll try to get in on that next year.

Trying to be at the Hasbro Marvel one tomorrow morning. Will take photos if I am.

I can’t make the Mondo one because it’s the same time as my slot for the Funko exclusives. I’m not super huge into Funko but have been collecting the classic X-Men, and Havok and Nimrod are the exclusives for NYCC.

Damn. I should have my wife look into that next year.

How soon do you think that we'll see reveals, tomorrow?

Everything you need to know is in the first post in this thread.

But for convenience sake, here it is again:
